Star Castle and Starhawk have co-op play? Is that right? Simulataneous gameplay? Right, when someone posted about that on a forum a while back in regards to S. Castle, I thought he was wrong, as I never heard of that (since I obviously don't have it) until then. I couldn't even imagine. Star Castle seems like it could potentially be a a totally differnt game in that format, since having a shot at the castle wouldn't gaurantee that the castle also has, (and perfectly executes every single time) a shot at you. .. Presumably a competent team would clear more castles than an individual. I also did not know that Armor Attack had a non-co-op play. I enjoyed playing that at local arcades back in the day. It's better with another player though, of course. Yeah i know there is single player, and i have played arcade version. But the Vectrex version is listed here as a versus game, in addition to co-op. I've only played co-op multiplayer. .. BTW it can be a real pain in the a$$ trying to multiquote someone when you are using an iPad. No arrow keys and no undo command really add up!

^Oh God, no kidding. I just look at iPads as to being casual web browsers (no ctrl key? What the hell?). Right, when someone posted about that on a forum a while back in regards to S. Yeah, that's what I've thought too, plus one person could be the bait while the other one gets a shot in when the castle is aiming at the other player.

While gliptitude says it, I couldnt find anything about a versus mode for Armor Attack in a manual I looked up online so likely there is no versus mode. I will double check when I can and remove it from the list if there isn't one.

No, there's no versus mode where there's an advantage of one player's score over the other's or you can kill the other player.

I went back and re-read the post. It could've just sounded that way. I just took it as the "non co-op" (I think that's what it said) aspect as to being for one player, rather than being competitive.

Ya I knew there was single player, which obviously is not co-op, but the game was on the multiplayer list as versus as well as co-op. I said "non co-op", but "versus" would have been more clear, and fmml confirms that it was a mistake.
.. But how about Starhawk? How does that go?

^It's whoever has the higher score at the end of a game wins. I don't think that's exactly "co-op", especially once that bonus ship appears (the one that deducts several hundred points from your score if you don't shoot it fast enough), as whoever shoots it gets the bonus then, not both players (of course).

It´s a matter of perspective, I guess. Most (all?) of the games that I would consider to be co-op have individual scores for each player so you kind of compete. As long as you take out the same enemies to progress in the game I´d consider it to be co-op though. For me e.g. games like Rip Off or Debris are more about surviving as long as possible together rather than beating the other player´s score. For Star Castle it is about clearing out as many castles as possible and maybe develop strategies that work well but possibly give a disadvantage to one of the players scorewise. For Starhawk I assume that there is only one time counter for both players. That´s why I´d also consider it to be co-op. One strategy there could be that one player concentrates on the Command Ships till he reaches the 10k mark and then goes for the smaller ships until player2 gets 10k and so on. If there are really individual time counters for both players I´d clearly label Starhawk to be a versus game though. I will have a further look and test it. Atm I lack the time though. The Starhawk manual says: "In a two-player game, you are both protecting the planet." Sascha pointed out to me that ZUFALLSTREFFER was missing in the list, so there is even another one to check out.

Also, certain score thresholds have to be reached in order to continue playing, so that would be co-op as well, even though you're competing against each other score-wise, so I'd say that makes it a rather unique entry to have both those factors there

Yeah I. think every 10k points you get extra time in single player. Dont know if there is a difference in multiplayer. Dont know if the game counts the cumulative points for both for extra time or one player has to reach the threshold score. Will try it out eventually.

Revector got added earlier to the list and I just added Star Sling as well. It seems Star Sling is the only game that offers cooperative as well as competitive gameplay.
Not much 2player gaming going on lately. Had an hour of playtime with my brother on christmas checking out his new Mateo flashcart so an average of less than 4 minutes to check out every rom.
Played some ZUFALLSTREFFER, Pong and Sub Wars. Rating by these short impressions they are all three fun games.
Zufallstreffer is not only about luck but also about timing your shooting frequency and your shield right. Hope I get a chance to play it again soon after a few drinks (like Sascha said it is supposed to be with this game).
Sub Wars should be fun - needs a second look definately.
Vector Pong - well its Pong, everybody likes Pong, everybody hates losing in Pong so a perfect two player game. Has an extra battle mode and offers lots of different controller options to pick from which is nice depending on the controller options you have available.
Also looking into this thread I was reminded that I wanted to check out how Starhawk behaves in multiplayer.

Star Sling eh? Interesting.
Bumping this thread caused me to notice Debris is on the list. I'll have to try that. Never did try Star Castle either. Actually I think Rip Off, Armor Attack, Space Wars and Sundance are the only simultaneous multiplayer games I've actually tried with a 2nd human player. .. I've got to get the Vectrex moved and set up in the living room so I can play with guests! .. If i get the chance the list in order of priority will be Debris, Rip Off (again), Star Castle, Sundance(again) and finally Nebula Commander. Probably Web Wars and War of the Worlds mixed in between the simul-games.

When does a game finally count? Frogs n Flies is finished. I've played it. Deathchase too.
I always thought that VecFahren would have made a nice 2 player simultaneous game but Sascha said the cycles were already maxed out and it exhibited slowdown from time to time.

When does a game finally count? Frogs n Flies is finished. Even the unfinished Vectropolis 500 from Vectopia is on there as a demo, so it doesn't matter. When I started it, the page wasn't meant to list every single game possible, others just added to it.
