I've got to get the Vectrex moved and set up in the living room so I can play with guests! .. If i get the chance the list in order of priority will be Debris, Rip Off (again), Star Castle, Sundance(again) and finally Nebula Commander. Probably Web Wars and War of the Worlds mixed in between the simul-games. If you do please share your thoughts. I guess Star Castle needs some practise to be enjoyable. I pretty much still suck at that game but I could imagine developing team tactics could be fun. Debris got all the ingredients to be a good space shooter but for some reason I still didnt got hooked on this game. Will try it again. Sundance and Nebula Commander are great but are serious business. Rip Off is just plain fun imo. When does a game finally count? Frogs n Flies is finished. I've played it. Deathchase too. I always thought that VecFahren would have made a nice 2 player simultaneous game but Sascha said the cycles were already maxed out and it exhibited slowdown from time to time. I started this list as a reference when I was looking which 2player games are out there. I guess it makes sense to add new games once they get released. Yeah, a 2player Vecfahren would be great but it would need some kind of split screen which would also mean a double amount of vectors displayed.

Bumping this threat again #1 had a friend over the other day and he was willing to play some Vectrex. After some Rip Off we played Armor Attack. Have to admit I never had that much love for that game. My friend loved it immediately and was like: "One more turn!". He seems to be a tank and chopper guy. He became a competent partner really quick and we ended up chasing the opponents to beat te other ones score. The game is a bit buggy with enemy tanks commiting suicide but I think it doesnt affect gameplay that much. I like Armor Attack alot better now than I did before. #2 Added Solar Wars 2Player preview to the list #3 I was thinking about what Tony said about adding unreleased games. At first I only wanted to include games that were made available but after thinking about it I think 50tbrd is right. Lets make this list as complete as possible! I made a new section for unreleased games / WIP. So far I included: Deathchase Frogs N Flies NOX SEELENWALZERDo you know of any more? Please post them here. #3b I had a hard time deciding whether to include "Connect 4" which is supposed to be released together with Frogs N Flies or not. Technically its turn based and not simultaneously so at this point I chose to not include it. Opinions on that?

Bumping this threat again HEY! Stop making threats here! I like Armor Attack alot better now than I did before. Some games are like that, as you realize that later with a second person: due to wyldephang on here giving me an extra copy of Golden Axe II for the Genesis, I went through and beat the game and figured I would trade it off. But then I tried it with the nephew and it's freaking GREAT with a second player. I'll never get rid of it now, and still play it occasionally by myself.

There was an hack of Armor Attack that fixed some things, not sure if that was something that got fixed as well.

I did get a chance to play some of these with friends the other day. Ones i hadn't tried this way before were Starhawk, Star Castle, Nebula Commander and Blitz. They were all pretty fun. I guess none really blew me away though. Maybe we had the most fun with Blitz that day, but i can imagine Star Castle or Nebula Commander being preferable in other circumstances.
Star Castle seems to run more slowly in this mode and if you otherwise find Star Castle too difficult I'd say the two player game might be good for training and building up to the single player.
It was a fairly short session we had so i haven't made my mind up on any of the games we played that day.

When we played Starhawk we thought the screen was a bit too busy. Do you recall whether there was one time counter for both players or one for each? We had the discussion whether to count Starhawk as coop or vs.. I meant to check but didnt come around.

Yes there was just one timer that we shared in our game of Starhawk.

Wow, so you did Asteroids too! (Note: for those that don't know, the first Asteroids game was this [not with vector graphics though] from Midway, NOT Atari.)

Didn't Midway clone Space Race? *edit* Ah, according to KLOV Midway licensed Space Race from Atari and released it as 'Asteroids'.

Time to bump this thread. Several games have been added in the meantime. Lots of interesting stuff imho. With Pitcher's Duel an original era game entered the list. Got the chance to play it briefly but due to our ignorance against American sports (similar with Blitz) we couldnt quite figure the game out. Further look necessary. Curious if anyone has played this and can report. Berzerk Arena is another interesting entry. Afaik the roms werent freely available in the past but now can be found in Malban`s Vide. Tackling the task of making a VecLink cable is on the To Do list. Michael Borrmann picked up work on Oolong, the successor of Vec Fu, and his videos of awesome emulator gameplay look VERY promising. Batman vs Superman - Laserwars and Spaceball, two games from Peer Johannsen's Vectrex programming class of FH Pforzheim were added. I found those by reading Helmut`s and Malban`s reviews in the related thread. Not sure if there are more, please post here if there are. With the release of Frogs N Flies, Space Race, Whack-a-mole, Deathchase, Skull Soccer, Crossfire Chris Malcolm alone contributed six (6!) more games. For me Space Race has the potential to become a new favorite for a quick 2p session from what I can tell playing 1p mode. Cant wait to play with my brother. That leads to: NOX It has been released last year and has yet to be tested in 2p. My brother will visit me in mid October so we can finally check out if the gameplay can keep up with Vectropolis 500. VectorRepublic is working on Outlaw Hill. The boxed release of Big Blue brought joy to the collector`s and also the gamer`s heart. Expectations are high for this upcoming 2p game, Chris. Warrior is now free for download. The Wiki has been updated. The list now contains links for each homebrew game that will lead you to the developer`s site or to places like Packrat or Madtronix that distribute the games. Some lead to forum threads or gameplay videos. I intend to include both, gameplay videos and links to the developer for each game in the future. Another thing for the To Do list. For now links focus on availability (of physical copies wherever possible). Talking about availability. Anyone wants to borrow me his copy of Solar Wars for the mid October weekend? Huge "Thank you" to all developers for making me happy with those weird phosphor beam games and for going that extra step implementing 2player simultaneous options, even though the audience for that is limited to say the least. I can`t stress enough how appreciated that is!. Share your thoughts if you like and please report missing games.
