A cool looking game. Since it is april is it already final? if not, is there a way to be play testing volunteer?

Hi there,
thought I'd post a short update: I thought the game was final two weeks ago but based on some feedback I have decided to remove my fast text routine: you had to visually check it once ('calibrate') for a given Vectrex. Removing it freed up so much space that I decided to add more enemy types and levels. I have created all new enemies but one now (and most new levels) and started testing the levels themselves and the now expanded level set as a whole. This also takes quite a bit of time, though, to get them into the shape I want.

Thanks for the update thomas. Don't forget to update us Forum-dwellers when the game is finished and of course, how to get a copy. I'm very much looking forward to this!

Hi, the cartridge development has been finished a while ago, and already quite a few cartridges have been built and a few handed out to friends. However, creating the packaging and possibly an overlay, too, is taking more time then I anticipated. I've already built and tested a lot of cartridges and once I've got the packaging (and maybe an overlay, which would be nice but would delay things even further and make the release more expensive) I'll make them available asap. However, I really like the overlay graphics a friend of mine came up with so I am still investigating further where/how to build some for an initial release.
The game ended up being a 64k game - from the 'final' 32k version back in March/early April the game doubled in size: a lot more levels, twice the enemies (resulting in more diverse gameplay) and music was added. Getting this all into the cartridge took .a.lot. of time. Getting all the levels to work for me - to have the difficulty ramping up nicely and finish at the higher levels in a frantic, seriously hard way that is .just. manageable for me reliably was even more work. I myself am very pleased with the result but feel I have to caution people: this is not a casual game.
It also includes an additional chip to store the options and high scores. That was a particular goal of mine, since I myself like to play for high scores and want them to be permanent. The cartridge GeoAnas has used when making his video was already the final version - he has got the very first cartridge I've sent out - in case you saw his video.
Thomas

No matter how hard I try, I will never being able to beat Thomas' high score...Not even using my special controller

I have been eyeing this game for awhile now and it looks amazing! This is a must have for me. I hope thomas you will post a link for ordering this game on the Vector Forums here for the people like myself who do not use Facebook. I do not want to miss out on this one. I love games like Robotron and Smash TV - this is perfect for me to play again and again. Also, how large of a production run are you planning on? 100 copies with box and overlay currently are selling out in mere days! Look at Nox/Death Chase and Big Blue - both recently released and sold out that quickly. The upcoming Mail Plane boxed release I believe has already sold out of its' 100 copy run as well. 2016 has been a great year for the Vectrex!

Do you mind telling what custom chip you used to store highscores?
Do I have to update Vide to support another OneWire Chip?
Regards Malban
