... the more so as there was also no TV, GPS or smartphone Three weeks vacation in a Polish salt mine? Don't know anything about them, never been to one... No, the incredible truth is that all these devices have an on/off switch. Today's younger generations might not know this, but neither does your heart stop beating nor the world stop spinning when you switch off your smartphone

Greetings everyone, all projects are completed and the web pages have been updated and are accessible from the Vectrex 2017 gallery page again. Have fun and enjoy the games! Feedback is very welcome. Cheers, Peer

Thank you very much for this latest update, Peer. There are quite a number of additional binaries available, now. I'll check them out one-by-one but I won't write a review unless a student explicitely asks me for feedback for his/her game from my side.
Thank you, Peer, for you for taking the risk and effort for a second time and offering the Vectrex Programming seminar at the University of Pforzheim, again. This year's result are really astonishing and some of the games like Kingdom of Heaven or Star Fuel are very complete and playable. Congratulations to the students for their excellent effort and thank you for providing the binaries for download!

Helmut and Malban, many thanks once again for the extensive alpha version reviews you both have already written in the past months. Those have helped a lot to motivate the students, and we have used them as examples of "pre-screening" in software development processes. Many of the details were taken into account during the finalization and the bug fixing phase of the projects.
As the projects are completed, I do not think that such extensive reviews are needed anymore (I will still ask the students), but it would be very nice just to read some shorts comments or thoughts on the games here by anyone who tried them out (like e.g. japjac's comment a few posts above, thanks for that one!).
One aspect of the course was "retro-programming", and when I graded the projects, a question I kept in mind was "If this game had been available back in 1982, would I then have been interested in it, and would it have been able to somehow compete with the contemporary GCE games at that time?" So I tried to compare them to typical 1982 console games rather than to today’s games, and from a player's perspective rather than a salesperson's. I would definitely love to read some other opinions here.
Cheers, Peer

Thanks a lot, I will pass on your words to the programmer. This was a joint project with my "Robot Programming" class which ran in parallel to the Vectrex class. The student had applied to both classes, but initially there was some doubt whether two major software projects at the same time would be accomplishable. The solution was, well, a Vectrex-playing robot

Hi, I think people need to go Berzerk this year to enter the programming course!

Great to hear that you (Peer) will offer a Vectrex Programming course in 2018! Note: Perhaps it's a good idea to start a new topic "Vectrex Programming at Germany University 2018".

Thank you so much for continuing to do this! I now look forward to it every year! Thanks a lot in return for your words! Such feedback is always a great source of motivation, not only for the students, but for me as well. As suggested in one of the above posts, I will set up a new thread for the 2018 course as this one has already grown quite large. Cheers, Peer

By accident ( Facebook group "Vectrex Fans Unite!") I noticed that the author of Pipe Race had provided an improved version which looks quite good. Playing is tough because difficulty doesn't ramp up. I really have to download the latest versions and have a second look at the binaries of the programming courses...
