coleco1981 and wazzal are both first, Chainsaw is third, now.
Notes: - A Star Sling score of about 32.000 is excellent but sounds like a very long game and like marathoning to me. Setting a maximum score for StarSling comes to my mind but I won't set a maximum score until there's a second player with a similar score and I know more details (playing duration and difficulty).
- I thought about setting 100% for those who completed N.E.L.S, regardless of the actual score (pretty much like for Dark Tower) because the game seems to be unplayable after completion. But changing this rule on the very last day would be unfair and Berzerk is pretty much unplayable above 10.00 points. So I leave the N.E.L.S. scores and percentages as there are.
It's just 4 percent from first to third. About 19 hours to go...
wazzal: StarSling 31698??!! Looking at the screenshot it looks as if Vectorzoa (Alex), the developer had never forseen such a high score. In addition with your other excellent scores, you and coleco1981 are both first, now.
But changing this rule on the very last day would be unfair and Berzerk is pretty much unplayable above 10.00 points.
That's not marathoning it anyway, as it probably doesn't even take 20 minutes to get that score. 75,000 on Clean Sweep definitely IS, since it indeed took me an hour to get that high, which I thought I'd lose my mind. (I don't see how coleco got about 20,000 more on it with his score, but then I think he's a robot anyway )
Looks like Photobucket is back up, by the way, since the "new"/"no new message" icons are showing up once more, as that's what I've always used for those images (hence why they were MIA all day yesterday).
Yeah, in Clean Sweep the difficulty is raising until level 7 (or 8 ?) and then is going down again to easy, because all enemies lose their intelligence, and don't follow the player anymore, they are just move around the same ways. But because you have to go back to the center every time after eating some dots, it is a pain in the ass, and not funny or challenging anymore... A "debbuged" version would be nice: Enemies should get faster and follow the player more after level 7 and difficulty should increase every level... Shouldn't maybe be to difficult to change the code, becauase I think there are just tables in memory that contains data about level difficulty, enemy behavior etc.?? I think the developer thought in the past, that nobody will reach level 8, like the level 13 story from Mine Storm...
Yeah clean sweep becomes a pain to play since you end up constantly having to go back to the center but nothing changes in the levels once you get to that point. When you have all 4 enemies on screen the patterns are very predictable. Later levels don't even have a number just an infinity symbol.
If the game had more variety and didn't force you to drop off the money so often in later levels it would be fun. But it felt like it was more about stamina and tolerance for repetition in later levels than skill.
I also have similar complaints about Dark Tower. It just takes forever to build up enough gold for the keys. Then you could end up spending gold on something you don't want. I enjoy the shooting game part but the main goal is such a grind and seems to take forever.

Just to make sure: In case of N.E.L.S. I didn't speak of marathoning but of fairness: Both wazzal and Chainsaw have reached level 100 of N.E.L.S. and at about this level the game seems to become unplayable. In my opinion it would be just fair to give both players 100%. But as written above: Changing rules or introducing new maximum scores on the last day is not a gut idea.
Hey Guys, just checking in. I live in Eastern Standard Time (but we follow the daylight savings time rule so right now it is actually 5:51pm here) but I see by the link to the current time on the first page that it is actually 4:52pm, so I will go with the time on the link and hopefully be able to use this last hour to get a couple more good scores in. Best of luck to everyone as the countdown begins!
Well, it is after 7:00pm EST doesn't look like anyone had any last minute scores like I was hoping for, but I am glad that I increased my Polar Rescue and Star Fire because I learned a lot about those games and will give some more information later on. Had a great time in the competition this year. There are some really great players out there and some amazing high scores were set. Thanks for running this again! I had a lot of fun.
