I've had an Entex AdventureVision sitting on a shelf of 'electronic curiosities' for close to a decade now and am interested in tinkering with it. I don't know if it works and I have no games for it. I see the 4 ROM's are readily available for download and would appreciate suggestions on what model of chip to use as well as software and a programmer. It's been 10-15 years since I've dabbled much with electronics but the rust should shake off easily if there are any home brew programmer plans I can build. Basically looking to get my hands dirty again. If I do fire the thing up with no game inserted then is it expected to do anything? (to prove core function)
Thanks for any advice.

Wow cool! Here is a page that refers to a "Cartridge Adapter to easily use 2532 ROMs with the system": www.adventurevision.com/tech.htmlIt only links to a picture and I don't know what it means. .. I'd love to have an Adventure Vision but will never pay the thousands of dollars they seem to go for.

Looking at the pictures one can only guess its a ZIF socket tie-wrapped to a stripped down cart socket. I've never owned one so I'm not sure if the mirror will spin without a cart.

Thanks. So that adapter looks like a regular ZIF socket (readily available cheap) and I should be able to machine the bottom part out of delrin no problem. I'll bet though that I could carefully insert a chip directly into that socket temporarily using the spring tension of the pins, at least to test. Interesting...

Cool. Please give us an update if you make any progress. I am really intrigued by the Adventure Vision and I don't think there are any other members here who have one.
