It looks like the creators of the Netflix series Stranger Things were planning on making a C64 video game! CLICKY

That's cool. I've never seen the show. I really need to. Heard good things about it.

Wow neat.
It says it is unofficial but they prototyped it for Netflix as a potential promotion. Very unlikely, but how cool would it be if the network actually funded the project?
The show is great and I don't imagine this game could make it any more successful than it already is. :/

Wow neat. The show is great and I don't imagine this game could make it any more successful than it already is. :/ I'm not so sure about that. Video games drive two types of promotional goodness: awareness for your target audience and having the brand in your home. I watched this show for the nostalgic feel and high production quality. I'm sure that's the case for many others. If they were to offer the game bundled with an emulator it might be worth it. But then I'm not sure how savvy Netflix is about promoting their content. They are kind of new at the content producing game.

Idk. The show has pretty universal appeal, maybe more than any other currently. It is a phenomenon, to the extent that network talk hosts routinely make jokes and other references to it.
I think the show handles nostalgia in a new and sophisticated and RELEVANT way. .. I was introduced to the show by a coworker who was born in 1990. .. I subsequently watched the whole series with my mom.

I guess no one will ever know why a show finds mass appeal. Look at The Walking Dead. Looking back I still wonder why I was so fascinated by it. But then I haven't watched the past couple of seasons. I remember Barry Gibb saying in an interview that people treat music like a restaurant buffet. They eat and eat until they get so full that they never want to eat again. So it was with Disco. Perhaps TV shows are the same way.

^That explains why the vampire phenomena comes and goes over the years is my guess.
