Looks pretty interesting, with the possibility of an open world (since it looks like Hell has taken over Earth, totally decimating it in the process), rather than encased (although with usually fairly sizeable) levels from the previous incarnations. www.pcgamer.com/doom-eternal-release-date-trailer-everything-we-know/Trailer (over six million views already!): Don't really like the added arms onto the Pain Elemental, although that's just decorative. I think Doomguy is gonna need more than his double-barreled shotgun for the mess he's in though!

I'm looking forward to buying this one. I really enjoyed the last Doom game; the gameplay was a throwback to the "golden age" of FPS games, when shooters were fast, arcade-like, and copiously violent. I also love that we're revisiting the "hell on earth" motif and I can't wait to see what id does with it. I remember that Doom II boasted the same plot element, but due to the limited wads/textures, I couldn't appreciate the gravity what was supposedly happening.

Yeah. The Spaceport and some City level or something (forget the name of it) probably came the closest as far as the concept went but I always thought most of the levels fell flat (not in regards to gameplay though since Doom 2 is one of my all time favorite games!). I just thought a lot of levels looked strange and all: THIS is what buildings look like? Having rivers of radioactive waste and all? No ceilings/being open? Oh, maybe that's what they look like after denizens of hell take them over. No, not quite.
