Hi all, I'm the owner of a small company that is making officially licensed miniatures of games consoles and home computers. Our first one is here. I'm looking to do the Vectrex too but when digging around I've had a few people say that the IP and Trademark is now public domain. Can anyone confirm this? If it's true it will be much easier to bring this particular model to market! To be authentic we still want the GCE logo on the device and replica retail box so that also has to be taken into account. Any help with be much appreciated!

IP rights for the Vectrex are owned by Jay Smith. They are NOT public domain.
Don't believe other articles that have incorrectly parroted a public domain statement. Rights were obtained back from Milton Bradley a long time ago and are retained by Jay.
Jay does allow non-for-profit projects. He asks that commercial projects be reviewed before approval.

Hi,
Honestly that's fine. We have no problem with obtaining the appropriate license as we have done for our other projects. I just thought this was the best place to check. So we can make a start on this and to save me the time of more digging do you know the best way of contacting Jay?

That Mega Drive looks quite nice. Hopefully you'll be able to get a license from Jay and make similar replica for the Vectrex.

Thanks for the help!
Lets see what comes of this. I really don't want our models to only be limited to the big five as this collection should represent a complete history of gaming - which certainly includes the Vectrex!

Hi all,
Just wanted to let you know that I've not heard anything back from Jay or Spencer after multiple attempts. It's a shame as I really wanted to celebrate some of the old systems that have a cult following. Maybe after we have some other consoles produced I'll try again.
Thanks for all the help and apologies this didn't get off the ground.
