What started off as a little experiment turned into a full project. Inspired by Dark Tower and Dragonstomper on the Atari 2600, Quartz's Quest is a small turn based RPG in which you play as a dragon. Dungeons and items are randomized and the controls are - I think - intuitive enough.
I'm sure everyone says this, and I know I've said it myself multiple times but I am planning to make a physical release eventually. It's just not in the budget right now!
I can release the source code if anyone wanted to see it and if you think you might learn something from it. It is commented just enough for me to understand it though, and the sound routines in particular are a mess.
But hey! Check it out if you'd like, and any feedback is appreciated!
In fact, I used Vide to make the game! I wouldn't have gotten nearly as far as I did without the vector editor I think... And I would be glad to have my game and source code included. When I have a chance I will try to get the source files in a presentable state and include it with the game.
Just downloaded and tried this out, first impressions are very positive, there's quite a bit of variation and depth in there and I'll be playing more for sure. interested to see how it randomises and varies game to game. Very cool, great work!

I downloaded and played on Vectrex last night. It plays really nicely and has lots of gratifying features and sequences. Thank you for making and sharing it.
If you were looking for kind of an artistic critique I took some notes. Basically I think there are some great aesthetic concepts in place, which go hand in hand with the subject and the whole idea and experience of the game, but that they could just be developed a little further and articulated, mostly visually.
As far as gaming and functionality I thought it was very balanced and resolved, a casual difficulty level that suits me personally very well, and a nice scale to it all around.
The text inventory screen flickers and buzzes pretty badly on my Vectrex. Otherwise everything seemed stable.
Love the sound, (including silence). Love the bosses. Love the explosions when an enemy dies.
It would be excellent if you could get an Imagic style fantasy illustration or cinematic photo for the label!
