I like to see Big Blue. It has been a while I played it. I remember play sessions require more time than most Vectrex games. Somebody mentioned it takes about 1,5h to beat it. You can't beat it; once you get the last treasure you just get it over and over again. There's no end to it.

Yes, but I guess the last trophy counts for maximum score like with the trophies in Web War?

Yes, it's eight trophies max. That should count as the highest score on here, or maybe 400 points max (that's about the score you'll have once you get all trophies, more or less).

Is USA Zombie Apocalypse available to buy? Might be too late but for some games I need the push of getting it for the tournament to justify buying it.
Big blue is a good choice.
Is there any difference between Gyrostronomy and Gyrostrology?

Is USA Zombie Apocalypse available to buy? Might be too late but for some games I need the push of getting it for the tournament to justify buying it. I checked with AR-Vectrex and they have black and red PCB versions in-stock. Wether you can get it shipped from them to the US in time is a good question though. It seems reasonable, but I wouldn't count on it.

I'm not really a collector, I've only bought a couple of homebrew titles, neither of which are in the tournament this year. That's ok, I'll concentrate on the games I do have :-)

Is there any difference between Gyrostronomy and Gyrostrology? Let me quote from the "Project X" thread: {Here is a spoiler list of all the (subtle) differences between the two versions.}- The constellations are split according to Zodiac constellations, and non-Zodiac constellations - The look of the Gyromancer ship - The looks of (most of) the enemies (but only the looks, not their behavior) - The looks of the mines (but only the looks, not their behavior) - The looks of the rocks (but only the looks, not their behavior) - The look of the Gyromancer shield, it also turns clockwise in one version, and counter-clockwise in the other - The sounds of the shots and the laser are slightly different in both versions - The names of the protagonists (Zar-Astra vs. Zar-Astro) - Some other details (King Zar-Athustra vs. Queen Zar-Athustra, Zar-Ruman being an Astronomer / Astrologer) - Probably some other minute things I forgot here So it doesn't matter which version you are playing in the tournament. The gameplay and the difficulty will be exactly the same.
Do me a favor, please read the manual(s) and the background story (stories) before playing I put some work into those, and they might give you some hints to develop a strategy to beat the game.
Many Cheers, Peer

Hey all! You might have seen the announcement today about the Vectorlink. This is the item I will be donating for a Vector War prize, and will cover shipping direct from me to you! It will be a random prize, available to anyone who qualifies for Vector War (excluding my household) and who also does not already have a prize (namely 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners who likely will have already picked a prize). 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners can forfeit their pick if they'd like a chance to win it randomly.
Something else I wanted to share... I made myself a VWXI t-shirt based on the flyer promo I made. It was $9 free shipping from stickermule.com and I did post about the deal in Vectrex Fans Unite, but didn't share it too widely because honestly I didn't know how good the shirts would be. It turns out they are really nice!! Normal price is $19 free shipping, and really that's not bad either! It's a bit less per shirt for every one extra you order, so 10 is like $15 each. If you'd like to order one... here's the EPS file I used: playvectrex.com/images/vwxi/vwxi-t-shirt.eps

I too think Big Blue would be an excellent choice for one of the last homebrew games.
Here's my personal list of some I would love to see as additional possibilities this year for the competition.
- Hera Primera - Protector - Space Frenzy - Vec-Man - Frontier - Bezerk Ultimate - The Core - Robot Arena
Thanks again for everyone organizing this event!

Protector's been in two of them but it's been a while so it could come back at some point, I assume.

I am curious how many people that are planning on competing this year have Robot Arena? I have it on VecFever and a stand alone cart. If it was added to the competition, I'd be willing to loan out my stand-alone copy of Robot Arena to anyone in the USA that has previously qualified. You'd have to pay shipping both ways... but you could keep it for a while if you wanted.

I personally don't think Robot Arena would be a good choice. Should it be added to the competition this year, I can loan out a stand alone Robot Arena cart in Europe under the same conditions as Playvectrex is offering for the USA in the post above.

Some quick notes: playvectrex : Your Vectorlink is really a cool Vectrex item - congratulations and "Thank you!" for designing and crafting it. And thank you very much for donating a copy of your VecLink as a prize for this year's Vector War! (BTW, somehow cool that Vectorcade and Vectorlink use the same "naming conventions".) And thank you for your designing a Vector War XI poster and placing this announcement at AtariAge, VFU, and here. The T-shirt looks also cool - it "competes" a bit with the winners' T-shirt. "Robot Arena" and "The Core" are really excellent games and are hot candidates for the Vector War but until now I have been reluctant because of the very limited availabity. I'm also curious how many people have Robot Arena at hand - perhaps I'll place a poll at the end of the Vector War. eyelyft71 : Good to see you around, again, and sure enough I hope you'll participate, again. The game list for Vector War XI is complete (see initial post) but I'll make sure to peek into this topic next year.

There are pictures of the now finished KnightEx cart and the wooden spoon sitting in an inbox folder of a certain competition organizer.
