I have a Nintendo DS I have to wonder why that system did so well. The screens are tiny and they don't look as nice as the screens on the PSP (or the Vita, for that matter). I got the DS for free, so I can't truly complain but it does make me wonder.

I pre-ordered the PSP Vita but decided not to pick it up. I don't have time to play most of the games I own now. This would just be another expensive toy that sits unused most of the time.
On another note, I did just get my copy of Boulder Dash for the 2600. Looking forward to getting some time to play once the wife and kid go to bed.

I hear you there. Another reason I have not pursued the Vita. I don't even know how many games I have right now between all my consoles and handhelds (never mind the ones on my Android tablet!). I am, in fact, going to start an inventory list of them! Already set up the spreadsheet! On another note, I did just get my copy of Boulder Dash for the 2600. Looking forward to getting some time to play once the wife and kid go to bed. I got this too! Quite the feat for a console that was supposed to play Pong games!

Thanks TrekMD! Thought you could but wasn't sure. Sure thing. The content is not limited to games that you can download. They have themes, wallpapers, and other things you can download into the PSP as well. Some of the content is free and some you have to pay for.

I don't know if you still wondering whether or not you should buy the PS Vita, but I bought one some months ago (when Sony decided to lower the price), and I'm really happy about it. The screen is really beautiful, it has multimedia tasks which are nice if you don't have a smartphone already (email, internet, videos, music). And even if there's not a lot of game most of them are good. I have done Gravity Rush, Little Big Planet (which I really really enjoyed), Guacamelee (which is a good downloadable "Metroidvania"), Virtue's Last Reward (if you like graphic novels with tortuous story) and Dragon's Crown (it seems that the PS3 version is slightly better, but I don't have a PS3, and I fond the game really good on the Vita anyway).

Thanks for the feedback on the PS Vita, Luitoine. I decided to just keep enjoying my PSP and not get the Vita. I did read they've created an updated version of it, though, just to make the unit less costly.

I like the PSP. With custom firmware installed there are plenty of emulators for classic systems, including the Vectrex. The emulators are getting a little long in the tooth now because development has shifted to Android with more powerful multi-core smartphones and tablets, but the emulators on the PSP still work. The PSP has an impressive game library. The more successful indie games ended up as PSN and PSP Mini downloads, so there's a ton of interesting games to download (even though I prefer physical media). I've played the Vita several times at length but so far it hasn't become a must own item. I loved playing Gravity Rush, but that's not enough for me to buy yet another console. As others have mentioned, I already have too many systems and too many games I haven't played yet

In its day, the PSP was a fantastic machine, and can almost single-handedly compete with the next gen 3ds... as far as graphics and funcationality (minus a little more flustration without the touch-screen for apps/media). I had 7 of these babies and a library of slightly more than 200 games. Over the years I have sold all but my Blue 1000psp, and kept only the most favorite of games. PSP was my first Sony console, and liked it so much I went and bought a PS1, just to see if it was any good. I upgraded at a pawn shop and got a ps2, and then quickly upgraded to PS3. I wont buy the ps4, as I never use the Playstation consoles, but had a blast with PSP... get Joan Of Arc if you like RPGS. I did buy a Vita and a couple import games, and its first class all the way. Too bad its just not selling lot hotcakes, although I am noticing something VERY distrubing in the LaserActive market, an I only have two opinions.. either everybody who wants LA games already has them (except the most rarest titles), which could be a possibility, or the economy is so bad, nobody wants to pay more than $50 for a title. I've been watching this Ghost Rush auction, its been sitting there, an American version no-less and the guy cant get rid of it even for $70 bucks. A year ago you couldnt buy it for under $200. Also some other recent auctions distrubed me. Back to Vita... if you have to wait another year or two for it to be discounted do so...but its a MUST BUY system. Just wish more Vector games were released for it... HEHE!
