This deserves a thread. Are you familiar with this? pages.suddenlink.net/aae/While it can never substitute the genuine vector display, with correct settings it's better than MAME. I have managed to get AAE look pretty good... you have to play with the video settings a bit. Here are the settings I use: And these are the results: I wonder how could we get in touch with the author... there's still a few little bugs to beat. Biggest annoyance is the lack of mouse support in Star Wars. I'd LOVE to play it on AAE. PS: If you have trouble finding the correct rom sets for AAE, pm me. I have the perfect all-in-one package.

Here's a quick crappy video I made. Very low quality and the shot size was probably exaggerated in the Asteroids & Deluxe... but it's highly tweakable. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4lHsVueSj0

Yeah I saw your video the other day. Was impressed with A. Deluxe having the backdrop to it Definitely a thread. I think I had posted it to my vector links page elsewhere on here but I'm being too lazy to go look...

This emulator does not work no matter what machine I install it on.

Hopefully detonator can help you out with that I was wondering if it was kind of a pain to get up and running, since a lot of emulators are, or at least until the last several years. They used to be monstrously complicated and a pain to get up and running unless you really knew what you were doing. I think they're getting better though (hopefully). I don't mess with them too much.

I'll be testing it out later. I'll see if I can get it to work. Hopefully, detonator can give some clues here in the meantime.

Nice - it looks great (mostly). The explosions in Asteroids dissappear a little too fast. I wonder if that's something that can be tweaked. I'll definitely try it out later. Thanks.

I have all-in-one RAR package with full sets, everything set up to the latest specs.
If you want that, drop me a pm. I thought it's probably not appropriate to post it publicly?

Yeah, probably not, due to those ROMs (probably) not being legal. Other than that, I (and Proboards shouldn't) don't care.

By the way, here is the AAE source code (dunno if it's available for non-members of Arcadecontrols though). mirrors.arcadecontrols.com/aae/I have saved & archived these files if someone with knowledge wants to take a look at it one day. Star Wars mouse support would be nice... also support for ESB is on many people's want list. Unfortunately I'm completely clueless about this stuff. I think it uses MAME core, plus some features from Neil Bradley's Retrocade/EMU.

This emulator does not work no matter what machine I install it on. AAE absolutely requires a powerful video card. It won't work with those integrated cards that typically come with bulk machines and laptops. I have GeoForce 9600 GT (a few years old card) and it works flawlessly. Unlike MAME, AAE utilizes the card to create the vector effects, not the processor.
