These intrigue me. I've never seen one in the flesh, let alone seen the quality of the graphics. I've heard some horror stories - mirrors go out of sync, focus stops focusing among other things ... but are they any good? They certainly fit in with my weird criteria. Any thoughts?

Hopefully as some more members trickle in -- I just did another mass YouTube PMing to about a dozen more gamers this morning -- people will be able to add to more threads such as these, as I've always been a bit curious about these myself, but like with you, I've never played one either. I think they got a bit of bad press, like with some people getting headaches looking into them for a while and such, but I think a lot of the games were actually good (after all, it IS a Nintendo product). I know that when they ended up in the bargain bin a friend of mine bought a crapload of them, and once he networked around and was able to convince many people that they weren't bad at all he was able to sell them and make some decent money in the process (ka-ching!). Also, one of the few games that came out for the system had a somewhat vector/wireframe look, which I'm curious about that game especially, of course (the name escapes me right now though)

I have a nephew who still has the Virtual Boy and a few games. I've been trying to buy it off of him but no luck yet.

Have you played anything from it?

When my nephew had his over one day I checked it out as best as I could but wearing glasses prevented me from focusing on it real good. I had to take them off to get a good seal with the eye port. Now I am more curious about not giving it a fair shake back then.

I had one of these with about 8 games but sold it a couple of years ago, really wish I hadn't now. An exotic machine very much like the Vectrex with some really cool games, I'm tempted to buy another.

I just got my first Virtual Boy system which was nearly complete with the box. The stand has a few defects but it's overall in pretty good shape. It only came with Mario Tennis but the gameplay seems to be just fine. No problems with the mirrors or anything else that I'm aware of. I'd love to get a Flashboy Plus if it ever goes into production again. There's also the Vboot which is on the horizon. brennanthl.wordpress.com/project-vboot/

Never played a Virtual Boy and I too am intrigued by it again, as my discovery of Vectrex seems to have led me back to it. I did play a Virtual Boy emulator on my mac several years ago. Of course this was a compromised way of playing such a console, but I do remember liking the pinball game. ... More recently I saw a homebrew Virtual Boy game a guy was working on, which was a fighting game involving insects. ... Not sure if there have been other Virtual Boy homebrews completed and brought to production, but there has been interest and dabbling in that. Virtual Boy seems to have a bit of a cult following like Vectrex.

I opted not to seek one out after playing my daughters 3DS. I'm not sure my brain could handle the 3D element.
