This is in regards to games you didn't 'get' the first time around, then it turned out they had something to offer after all after another look. Or maybe they sucked later for some reason after liking them the first time around
One arcade game I took a glance at looked really odd. The player controlled some yellow thing and some blobs with their eyes focused on the yellow thing were chasing it. It looked strange, not really like anything else I had seen at the time. I thought to myself "must be some game that bombed".
Nope, that game would become gigantic, and is still around today in many incarnations over 30 years later, as it was called Pac-Man And I ended up getting into it as well.
Another arcade game that didn't go over real well with me during a casual look sat differently with a friend. I told him about some stupid game that he hadn't heard about, which I showed it to him later at a game room, as you controlled some guy hopping over barrels and some big gorilla was at the top of the screen. I said--about, yes, DONKEY KONG--"see? Stupid!" However, he looked rather intrigued with it instead, and I later ended up liking it myself.
As I also mentioned on another thread, Silpheed for the Sega CD I didn't think much of at first, but I later got it on clearance for less than $10 and enjoyed it more then. Just being in 3-D and playing like Zaxxon or a million other 2-D shooters didn't really blow me away like the Sega CD was supposed to at first, but it still ended up being a good game later though. Sometimes you have to lower your expectations I guess
