Anybody who is familiar with the build of the vectrex know if it is possible to output it's audio to an external source without hardmodding the system, like say, the 2nd controller port? i know the vecvoice plugs into a controller port, but that is more like an external device in itself.

No its not possible. The vecvoice makes sound/voice by the Vectrex sending a serial stream of data via one of the pins in the second controller port to the sound/voice chip in the vecvoice. For audio from the Vectrex sound chip you will have to solder a couple of wires onto the underside of the logic board and feed the signal on those wires to an audio amplifier. This won't be too destructive because you can always feed the wire through the grill in Vectrex casing. When you want to return the Vectrex to its original condition you can always unsolder the wires again.

Looking at the schematics, you should be able to connect to the audio wires that run between the Logic board (J302) and the Power board. These have sockets, so you should be able to modify the cable, or make another one, without messing with any circuit boards. I think J302 is mistakenly marked R302 on page 13 of the Vectrex service manual (right side of the board).
The volume control will still adjust the volume of the output in this set-up. If you don't want that, you should solder the wire to the terminal of the volume potentiometer that also connects with R327 and C323.
For the Ground connection, you can connect to the Ground (black?) wire of the Logic Board power cable, which goes to connector J204.
Thankfully not having had cause to pull apart my Vectrex yet, I'm not certain about the physical aspects of this.
