About the Airforce i-Combat I can say the cockpit view is very realistic. The joystick has a pantent VMS (Virtual Motion Sensor) system to keep the fly over all the 3D space: basically it works like a classic mouse, but you have the two pins moving by small counterweights instead the rubber ball ..a kind of pre-Wii controller. I was so happy with the gameplay that I just bought the other model in this shape: i-Racer Unfortunately I couldn´t find a lot of info (or internal screenshots) so I want to run the risk of discovering by myself (you can get one of these for barely 10-15 UK pounds) Here you have a pic from a pdf manual: Very complete panels (you can even choose between manual or automatic transmission), but the look of the road tracks still unknown for me.. The joystick works in a curious way. Only left side is movable. With self-centering and feedback force. This concept was used by Radica for the PS2, too: Release years of i-Racer and i-Combat were 1999 and 2000, I think. Much later of the Tomy machines. Wishing do a ride with this i-Racer!

Being a "Tomytronic 3D games" thread maybe I´d open another named "Radica 3D games" I promise this will be the last: not mentioned before, I couldn´t avoid to look for this curious binocular: the 1998 Radica Alien Intruder! It looks like a starship, even there are propellers lights painted on the decal. There is a joystick with fire button at the bottom side, and a retractable device with a star map. Full color display, looking like a VFD, but likely an evolved colored LCD, including natural lighting (for the scenary at general) and electrical backlight (for FX) The user "mmackin" do a good explanation of the complex gameplay here I wanted to make a good pic of the internal screen, but not so easy. My best try: In the real you can feel the 3D effect pretty physically, because the screen is builded in a ramp shaped mode, the horizont in a far point and the upper and bottom sides closer your eyes. Only down is you have to get a very exact natural light source for not be confused with so many sprites.. Totally worthy, by good tech details and by the very amusing gameplay

I like all this stuff staying in one thread together. It all relates pretty directly to the intended original subject.

You can go back to the very first post, edit the title of this thread if you want and slightly rename it and save it if you want with a modified title. I feel it doesn't really matter either way though.
Alien Intruder looks pretty killer with the info button and the like. Do you know when it was released?

Alien Intruder looks pretty killer with the info button and the like. Do you know when it was released? It was marketed in 1998, around 15 years after than Tomy models. In fact, without the existence of Tomy binoculars I hadn´t found these good Radica machines I bought recently: Alien Intruder, i-Combat & i-Racer. There were others 3 Radica binoculars, a bit older, but with monochrome screen; a lot less interesting, with less quality than Tomy, according to critics. So I really think my quest around Radica "artifacts" is already ended P.D. Astouning gameplay for Alien Intruder: you have to rescue people, from planet to planet (Gravitrex?), guided by a star map with 5x5 sectors, to finally free them into a kind of mothership. Travels to the planets are full of dangers, and the thing doesn´t improve when you try a landing, looking for airstrips under enemy fire. Increasingly complicated missions, I beated three planets, actually..

Where do I find your favourite games? Do you have a website? The other 2 games I was talking about are -Jungle Fighter -Sherman Attack They´re considered super-rare. Haven´t seen them on Ebay no more than 1x per year. Usually fetch prices around the 400 USD mark. i have a jungle fighter for sale still boxed with instructions

I have three of these. They are so fun, even today. Sky Duel is seriously one of my favorite games of all time, i wish someone would port it to any other system (like the 3ds?). Thundering Turbo is also awesome. There is just something satisfying about the little "blip" every time you pass another racer. I have no nostalgic connection to these, i vaguely remember the rich kids having them on the playground but never played one until an adult, so i judge it on its play value alone.
