I really need to make my way to PRGE... It's happening in August next year. Maybe easier to go?

It's happening in August next year. Maybe easier to go? It might be. Having small children is the main issue.

Over the last month, I've made a few acquisitions due in part to some irresistible Black Friday deals. Still determined to build up my Nintendo Switch collection, I purchased Spyro Reignited Trilogy, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. (The latter I owned on Wii U but felt compelled to upgrade because I no longer play that console.) For the Sega Genesis, I bought Thunder Force II because I own the other games on the console and wanted to complete the series. As far as shoot-'em-ups go, Thunder Force has always ranked highly for me. Finally, for the Nintendo DS, I bought The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, which came bundled with a beautiful green hardcover strategy guide. I rarely play the DS, but I wanted to add another title to my Zelda collection, and Spirit Tracks was a game that I passed up years ago. Spirit Tracks hails from an era when just about every Zelda game featured some type of vehicle mechanic. In Wind Waker (2002) and Phantom Hourglass (2007), players manned a sailboat; in Skyward Sword (2011), players flew a Loftwing. In Spirit Tracks, as you might well imagine, you traverse the land onboard a train. This is certainly unique for the Zelda series, so I am looking forward to playing it.

A small update since my last post: I have been chipping away at Spirit Tracks and having fun with it. Though the game didn't get the best ratings, I think it's pretty solid. I'm going to try to push further into the story mode as quickly as possible because I made a few more acquisitions on Christmas: Borderlands 3 on PS4 and Luigi's Mansion 3 on the Switch. I am planning on starting a playthrough of Borderlands 3 with my brother soon. For the last 30-some years, we've always just played games together on the same console, but we're finally going to try playing a game online together for the first time. I'm no stranger to online gaming, but this'll be his first real attempt at it. Wish us luck. Edit: I can't believe I forgot to mention this: Sometime between my last post and Christmas, I bought a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages (Game Boy Color). It is the companion game to Oracle of Seasons, which I purchased a couple years ago; the two games are essentially interlinked--ha, linked--and in order to unlock the full experience, you must play and beat both. Completing one game gives you a password that you can input into the next game for access to secret areas and bosses. I do have a Game Boy Color, but the screen is almost completely worn out, so I'll have to play this one on the Game Boy Advance.

Sounds cool. Me and the nephew played Gridhunt+ online a couple of times (an updated version of the classic board [and also at times online ]) game Battleship. That was fun.

I got this mini virtual pinball table for the family (mainly my wife and I). We had a nice Christmas competition going with her brother. I received Contra Rogue Corps as a gift. I'm a huge Contra fan but man, this game is not good... I also got Daemon X Machina for the Switch but haven't tried it yet. That is about it for my December gaming intake... I started playing the Witcher 3 again after watching the series. I need to get back to coding.

Glad you're liking the pinball or, more importantly, the children are liking it.
I had to double take on that pinball pic, your two children look just like mine right now, same hair and style of PJs and everything!

I've been in a bit of a bidding craze in January, and I made several acquisitions over the last few weeks. I recently made the decision to build up my SNES collection because I realized I've overlooked several important titles. So, to start things off, for the Super Nintendo I have bought the following: Street Fighter II, Final Fight 2, Gradius III, The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse, Mortal Kombat III, and Earthbound. This last one--hoo-boy--has been eluding me since I started collecting in 2011. I finally decided to part with the money to own my own copy. For the Sega Genesis, I purchased Battletoads & Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team, Quackshot Starring Donald Duck, ToeJam & Earl. I had been eyeing these games for several years and was able to get them all together in an eBay bundle deal. For the NES, I bought Tiny Toon Adventures, a quirky platformer by Konami that I remember quite fondly from my childhood. For the PlayStation 1, I acquired The Legend of Legaia, Mega Man 8, Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions, and Wild Arms. I am a bit agitated that I have to buy Mega Man 8, considering that I owned it as a youngster. However, several moves later, the original game is still not found. For the PlayStation 2, I picked up Legaia 2: Duel Saga, Grandia II, and Odin Sphere. I guess you can tell I've been in an RPG kick, and the PS1 and PS2 are certainly stocked with their share of those games. For the Nintendo GameCube, I bought Viewtiful Joe 2, a cartoonish beat-'em-up by Capcom. Finally, for the Switch, I acquired Splatoon 2 and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. It looks like I've got quite a lot ahead of me.

Toe Jam and Earl is a great game. I play it a few times a year.
My buddy and I got Toe Jam and Earl: Back in the Groove last year and played it online together a lot. It is also a great game with a few minor annoyances.
