I am suddenly planning a trip to Dubai!
My dad has been working over there for several years and I am visiting him before he ships out for good. (Hoping to get a glimpse of Paris during my 5 hour layovers in both directions too). Haven't been out of North America or even the USA since I was a teenager, so really excited about this.
... So I'm wondering if anyone happens to have any insight into any possible game arcades in Dubai, or resources for finding them? So far all that I have found is Sega Republic, in the Dubai Mall, which looks awesome and would be easy for me to get to since I will definitely be visiting this "world's biggest mall". ... Probably not really my cup of tea though because it appears to completely lack any retro cabinets.
... If you don't know anything about Dubai you might think it's strange that I would suspect the existence of a classic game arcade there, or that I would expect anyone here of having any knowledge of them. But the reality is that this city has set out to be a kind of world wide center of everything, and there are a great number of things there that, eh well, have no real reason to be there. The Ferrari Museum is there, so I would not be shocked to learn that The Atari Museum (for example) is there, or will be. I'm fairly certain there is no Atari Museum there, but just sayin' - this is a very decadent and a very international place, which has an obsession with consumer and entertainment items of every kind, and they have super wealthy people who like to flaunt their toys.
... On a side note if anyone has an interest in purchasing a medium sized sail boat, docked in Abu Dhabi, please let me know.
