I touched this in another thread. For my 2600 I've a couple of original Atari joysticks - awful, a speedking (I think it's called) - ok, but uncomfortable and 'clicky', and a Zipstik - chunky, big, a proper joystick. And it suits my Atari.
Any other fav's?

The PointMaster for the 2600, since the button was in the top middle of the handle (therefore either right- or left-handed people could use it), it was comfortable and sleek-looking (being black), but they weren't real durable though.

I use a Sega Genesis controller when I play. Sometimes the extra two buttons can get in the way since they aren't used but it saves on buying replacement controllers. The Sega Master System controller can also be used. I wouldn't see why you could not use them on a C64 as well.
My problem is I am more used to using a pad controller now then a joystick.

It's funny how Atari had toppers to make your controllers seem more arcade like. I know the 76 one is for a car antenna but it could still be used. Attachments:

And the Nes had these add on controllers. Any thoughts? Attachments:

Well Atari didn't make those toppers. I forgot about those.
That's an unusual NES gadget!

I bought it new years ago and never could get the hang of using it. Always seemed like the controller buttons were off when you pressed on them. Guess I need to give it a fair try.
The smaller one is made by Bandai and it works rather well.
I never knew about the Atari toppers till a few years back when I found an old controller with one on top. It's amazing sometimes the amount of things that were made for systems over the years.
The Vectrex is still blowing me away with the stuff that you guys have shared info about.

Yeah, no kidding. I knew about those but totally forgot about them. They were a bit of an oddity in the gaming world, in my opinion.

I've just made an offer on a 'Micro-Handler' joystick on UK ebay (Item number: 220891261374). I've not seen anything like it before. You can switch between joystick and paddle control, it would appear.
Any good, do you know?
*update*
Offer accepted. 15 quid.

Unless I see a pic and it turns out to look familiar, I don't think I have. Did it have worldwide distribution, do you know?

Did it have worldwide distribution, do you know? mmm... dunno. If you go onto ebay uk and enter the item no. will it not bring it up? Now I've bought it, I s'pose it's a bit late asking if it's any good.

How unusual! Be cool if someone could do an Asteroids hack (and other games hack that REALLY need a second button!) and put that second button to good use (like hyperspace)!

Looks OK doesn't it. I've googled 'micro-handler' and found nothing. Do you reckon it might be home made?
