I have a Vectrex that isn't working that I'd love to have fixed. Are you offering a service to fix them are you looking to fix them for yourself?

Im not enough experienced / confident yet to take someone elses console to fix :/ And i dont have enought parts on hand to make sure i really can fix it. Shipping just for one part to here takes usually 2 weeks to 2 months. And the shipping for the consoles also is allways a risk. Also its expencive, i live in Finland (Europe). And im still trying to find someone on my area with oscilloscope. I dont want to invest on that just for couple consoles..
But someone somewhere online had great advice: Try to find that "crazy" old guy near to you with grey beard, who collects and fixes old CRT/tube TV:s and radios. He can fix it ;D

Anyone with a bit of soldering skills and electronics know-how should be able to fix it imo... I repared a few Vectrex machines just by replacing CAPS, it's not that hard

Yeah, these old machines are very easy to solder, cause there is no smd components etc. But i wouldnt call them fixed if they are not tuned properly after the capkit. It slightly changes the voltages in the system cause new caps are much better. And i currently have two consoles that didnt get fixed by putting new caps. These often have also some plastic crackings. I need to fix the screen on one console too. I think i will try windshield repair kit on that.

Correct, tuning is important if you want your overlays to fit the screen Also : If there was cap leakage, the "acid" could have burned through some traces, you'll need to use a bit of sandpaper on those spots and check the traces with a multimeter and apply new solder if needed, or re-wire a trace in worst case.

Kangsteri. Why do feel the need to put pointless comments under your avatar? What are you hoping to achieve?

Well why do people need to put pointless comments on my topics, or to my internet Seems like my comments have achieved lot allready And do i really need to explain why i dont like christophertumber, at all? I hate everything he stands for. I dont think its ok for him to diss all modders here, but i cant say that i dont like his games? Why there is a space under the avatar for comments if its not recommended to use?

I dont think its ok for him to diss all modders here Where are you getting this from? The below is one of many threads where he never even made a reply to, canceling out your statement: Tbrd's thread you missedOr if there's another thread where he gave tbrd a hard time, fine, that would count then, but I don't really feel like going through all of his threads to find it (you have to prove your statement, not me). Why there is a space under the avatar for comments if its not recommended to use? Because when you're told something is deliberately abusive, then you just do a minor change to still call that person out, it takes time to take additional measures, have to reply to PMs from people who are concerned about this, reply to admin talk on the reported post in regards to the same subject, etc. And it's especially annoying for people like myself with chronic fatigue having to take the time out for this.

Why there is a space under the avatar for comments if its not recommended to use? Following on from VectorX's last post, if you've got an opinion about something then start a thread and open it up for discussion. That's why it's called a 'forum'. Using a space under an avatar to slag somebody off is childish and pathetic. You've clearly got strong views on some subjects and that makes for good topics. Let's keep it civil.

The only topic that I've seen him be resistant to is when his work is used in a way other than intended. He raised an important point regarding the difference between public domain and private use and made his wishes known that his work is for private use. Permission has not been given to be included on anyone else's multicarts or for reproduction. Madtronix was mistaken, the games removed for his multicart and the subject was dropped with mutually copacetic feelings.
I've not known Chris for that long but I've seen him be nothing but helpful. He provided me a scan of his Tsunami/Vix manual to replace my lost one. He's provided all information and more to help with The Definitive Guide to Vectrex Collecting. I've seen him help people with programming snafus, development of new ideas in gameplay, and provide very interesting information of historical significance when it comes to the Vectrex.
Obviously, you've let one misunderstood exchange between Chris and Madtronix jade your view of him which has cause a chain reaction. I have to admit that your views are diametrically opposed but there is really no need to pursue it further or publicly berate Chris for the legitimate desire to have his work used only as intended.
I also recommend that if you wish others on this forum to help you with topics you have concern for, such as the need for broken Vectrex equipment that you not single yourself out as a troublemaker. Conduct business and present topics and comments to topics with site rules and guidelines and civility to all people in mind.

You might be interested in this auction (not mine). Apparently this vectrex was disassembled after the case got damaged. The description states that it was working before put apart. Only the case is missing. Shipping is currently only offered to Germany but maybe if you ask nicely you can work something out. Current bid 3€. www.ebay.de/itm/231293024014
