It can be difficult go find actually good online games amidst all the muck and clones of popular old games (Pac-Man, Space Invaders). However, due to a lot of world economies being in the toilet, you can't always have money to keep yourself entertained with home releases that you actually have to pay for. So here are some that I find pretty intriguing (although opinions may differ):
Warzone--actually not REAL great, but it's good for a quick shooting fix. Like Battlezone (and a vector-like game), although it's just you shooting a bunch of tanks. I give it a 6 out of 10, which a review I wrote can be seen here. Just do a search for "Ben Librojo Warzone" because there's another Warzone that's out there, so that will probably show up in searches instead.
Tank Hunter--made by the same guy and I mentioned this in another thread, it's also like Battlezone, but you have many specific missions (at least 19, which I've never been able to beat that level) and power-ups such as shields and all. Very cool! 9/10, and another review can be read here.
Vector Runner--as I also mentioned in another thread, you control a car going through a barren wasteland, dodging obstacles and picking up power-ups. Simple and fun, I give this one a 7/10 (no, no more reviews, luckily!).
Pac Adventure Dracula's Castle--no, it doesn't *really* have much to do with Pac-Man, but he's in it. You go around a bunch of different screens, gathering up potions and keys to unlock areas for further access and goodies to eventually (hopefully) kill Dracula. The game's really well done, but unfortunately very hard; why there's two hearts to restore your health early in the game but not in the later stages is beyond me. I've seen Dracula but have never killed him. 7.5/10. The game can be played here.
Mortanoid--Arkanoid with a morbid twist to it, with bats and sprectres and other things (bosses) flying around the playfield as you try to knock away all the bricks. 7/10
Go to Hell--like a cross between the classics of Dig Dug and Boulder Dash, you have to dig down to Hell for something (I'm not saying what, as the ending's cute, if you can get there!) without running out of oxygen, energy or health levels while avoiding bats and other nasties. Again, simple and fun, 7/10 (uh oh, another review, but at least it's brief!).
Submachine series--really difficult point and click adventures, but they're still very cool. I'd give the brief ones of Submachine 0, 1, 32 Chambers and Future Loop Foundation a try first before going through episodes 2-7 (unless you don't like them). However, FLF and Sub 0 have references to other Submachine games that you would be better off knowing the other games, as you'll "get" the references better. I give the series an 8 out of 10 so far, as I've only been mildly disappointed a couple of times with the series. Very different!
Just a few I can think up for now...
