The white ones are nice. The yellow ones are piss yellow like how some of the original SNES systems got over time due to the type of plastic they were made of. I'm wondering if some trays are yellow because of a similar reason, or maybe they were just made that way. Anyone else ever notice this?

Interesting that the yellow ones are for Japanese releases...the one I just got is a like new American release. Maybe I'll swap it out for one if my extra white ones. The yellow ones seem cheaper and more flimsy too.

Interesting that the yellow ones are for Japanese releases... They kind of have a color thing going on over there. Although clowns can be scary to some children in general worldwide, some of their garish looks are considered especially scary over there, as I was thinking how out of place it seemed on the Sega Genesis game of Shining in the Darkness to have all these typical creatures found in an RPG/dungeon crawler game such as giant bats, spiders, slugs, blobs, etc., then there's these things that are basically heads and legs with stockings on top and they're brightly colored. But over in Japan they're considered scary.

Are you referring to the white trays that get yellow over time? I've seen several that probably were exposed to too much UV radiation & have yellowed. Attached are pics of 2 different Clean Sweep games from my current eBay listings. Both are US releases. One is rather yellow, the other pure white. -J Attachments:

I don't see how a tray sitting in a box is going to get UV exposure? It's also probably not going to be uniform discoloration (ie; NES and SNES tends to be uneven).
They're probably from different manufacturing runs. I believe the Japanese games were released later than initial North American? Presumably everything was manufactured in the same factory so at some point there was a switchover and because Japanese games are later they (maybe) all have the second tray version whereas North American and Europe have both.
