I like the fact that Lord of the Robots had an option for either 2D or 3D, so players can depending on whether they have an Imager or not.

In a first moment, the more impressive thing is the "real" colors... This is also my first impression and also the most lasting one for me. THE COLORIZATION IS REALLY FANTASTIC! .. I think the color aspect of it is pretty special. It is BETTER than any dedicated color vector monitor that i have seen because you still have the perfect smooth vectors. There is not the trade off of pixelation that you see on Tempest, Space Duel or Star Wars, (those are the only color cabs i've seen in person). It is only a little bit annoying to wear the headset and perhaps a deterent to developers since most players don't have one. The 3D effect is interesting but imperfect and eventually just a novelty. BUT THE COLOR IS FLAWLESS AND A REALLY SUBSTANTIAL ENHANCEMENT OF THE VECTREX'S CAPABILITIES. I would love to see new games that supported the 3D Imager JUST FOR THE COLORS. I´m agree. The way these 3D viewers work with colors is very effective. Having in mind the number of revolutions per second of the disk (enough to avoid annoying flickers), I think the number of elements independently colored (and clearly visible to the eye) could go up to 20.. P.D. I know the disk velocity is variable and controlled by Vectrex pulses, with a high start for the motor get up its speed quickly; but after that, the pulse train seems to stabilize.

And for only get the color effect, no scene redraws are needed, only a synchronization of the sprites prints with the right color of the disk.

I own two original GCE imagers and Madtronix's imager (from the first mid 2000s batch) and the game freaks out with one of my original GCE imagers, and refuses to run properly. Neither I nor George could figure out why. Don't think anyone else reported a problem either, so very peculiar.

still waiting on a response from my order inquiry - does it usually take awhile to get a response? I digged my mail: my order was send a 15-December I was write back the 2-January That week we were talking about the exact items I wanted and about the invoice. Johannes had issues with the swedish postal service labeling those days, and he solved it sending a package full of stamps (rare to see, nowadays) After that, the travel was around 8-9 days to Spain. Since his first response, communications were continuous and fluid. And all of times John was very amiable. (the full process was along one month, more or less) At any rate, I think circs may vary, but that´s my experience. Definitely, very happy with.

I am also about to take the plunge and inquired about one of Madtronix's 3D Imagers a few days ago as well. I'm also waiting for a reply still but am not in too much of a hurry with it being the holidays and all.

I was debating posting this because I am interested in bidding, but realistically I am or will be priced out anyway. .. THERE ARE CURRENTLY THREE - N E W - 3D IMAGERS ON EBAY. Two are still sealed boxes and one is open box.
The two auctions are around $300 or so with 4 days left. Then there is a BUY IT NOW for one of the factory sealed units for $800.
I posted in this old thread because I was trying to find the answer to my old original question, and still don't really see it.
I've never seen factory sealed or new before. what would you pay if you were in the market? How much value will vanish when the seal is broken?

I've seen CIB Imagers go between 800-1200. I hear that someone paid 2400 for a sealed one only a couple of months ago, however, I would not consider that price to be the norm.
Personally, I don't care for sealed stuff, however sealed does not connote that it is sealed as original. Sealed is to be taken with a grain of salt, as it is VERY popular to reseal games, systems and accessories to create a higher value especially for items that appear as new or unused. This has been around for decades, so there are even items that have been resealed many years ago and appear as if they are aged appropriately.
I'd consider the contents to be like new, unless otherwise proven and as such place value at the high end of CIB or around there.
I'm not sure who may be of the expertise to legitimize the wrap around an Imager to confirm that it has not been resealed and is authentic. There's definitely no accepted science as there is with say SNES sealed games.

Ok thanks for the reference. .. So the BIN 800 might be fair.
I don't care for sealed either, unless it adds only marginally to the value. I certainly plan to open and use anything i buy.
.. Would much rather the opportunity to buy a moderately used, maybe even incomplete item for half the price or less.
.. I'm going to predict that the BIN item does not sell and that both of the auctions exceed $600.
