As my vectrexes don't like the Vecmulti I'm looking for a 31 Games Vecflash and a Madtronix modern games multicart.
If you prefer trading I also have some original Vectrex games, 3d-SectorX and jumper multicards to trade.

Auctions for the VecFlash come up fairly often. Can you not get a hold of Madtronix? If not, maybe you can get one from www.vectrexworld.com/#!blog-new/c1ub1. I'd recommend making sure that you get something with Bombenhagel because its really a good game (though very difficult). What about getting the Mateos Programmable multicart or one of Toby's programmable carts (only holds one game)? Toby is 5-11under on Atari Age.

thanks for your input. Hope I'll be successful on ebay getting a vecflash in nobody offers one here. Madtronix seems not not respond since april. On www.vectrexworld.com the multis are sold out. I like Mateos stuff (got a set too ) Never heard of Tobys carts - seems to be more for developers or people who already have an eeprom burner. I'm looking for a menu driven cart, perhaps there will be more in the future

Well you have stuff I really want but I can't part with my VecFlash unfortunately. Any other way to get that 3D Sector X?
.. I'm not sure I understand your situation. How does the VecMulti not serve your purpose? And that's on multiple Vectrexes?
I also just looked at Madtronix website, and it looks like you can submit a paypal payment for his multicarts. I can't imagine he'd ignore a payment. Did you try that?
I have a 72 game Andrew Coleman multicart, but doesn't sound like what you need.

Madtronix is responding now, I would try again. It took awhile but started answering my questions in a couple days.
For those that are not aware, the VecMulti did not work on my Vectrex also. It played all of the original oem games but only a few homebrews. Most came up with a blank screen. Other people have the problem also and Richard H is aware of it. Unfortunately without having one of the non-working vectrexes to work with he is not able to find the problem.
So I am in the same boat, find a USB VECFlash or JFMateos carts.

I'm assuming you ran the patcher program on all the non-working ROMs, just to confirm it wasn't that?

Yep tried it all, different SD cards, new files, running the patcher, rerunning the Menu Maker. When Richard got the cart back, he said everything worked fine on his Vectrex.
All my rom games, including Sean Kelly and Andrew Coleman Multicart run flawlessly. I just received Vector Pilot and that plays fine also.
It must have something to due with the Vectrex itself. My serial number has an A at the end. Hardware Revision A?? and made in Taiwan, I know some are made in Hong Kong.
Any other ideas?

Yeah, I'll agree there's something up with the hardware, maybe a specific brand of component used inside. I have two MB Vectrex units, one made in Hong Kong and one made in Taiwan (with an A at the end of the serial number) and my VecMulti works fine on both. Also works fine on my Kouso. I was one of the beta testers for the cartridge, so if there'd been a problem of this nature found during that time, I would have reported it to Richard. I did find a couple of serious issues, but they were software based in the menu maker, or could be bypassed with a code change. Richard did recently update the firmware of the cartridge (which reminds me, he asked if I wanted to update mine, so I should really reply!) so who knows, maybe that could have solved something.

Thanks for so much feedback! concerning the 72Game multi - my "main" vectrex is a 7ADB - not compatible. About Madtronix - Johannes is a really nice guy - not a professional dealer - a vectrex enthusiast like everbody here. finally got contact - he said he did send me the multicart I was looking for .... can't wait ... VecMulti - I'm having the same problem on two vectrexes (random blank screen when trying to start a game). Richard told me to send the cart back, but I do not think there is something wrong with the cart. Thought to get a third vec (always wanted to) to be 100% shure, but ebay vectrexes are soo expensive these days, so I think that I'll send it back, perhaps firmware magic helps.

There probably is something with the no-buzz Vectrex, as they all have the 7ADB checksum. None of my Vectrex consoles have that BIOS version. Wouldn't be the only cart, the original run of Debris wouldn't run on that model either. Given Martijn put in some anti-flash copy protection into the code, then it lends credence to why VecMulti has issues too!
If you can run the Test rev 4 software on the console, you can see what the checksum is.

original Debris is fine on both devices
bios checked bios with Test rev 4
bios:7ADB - model:3000-G1 Euro - sn:3108135 - made in Hong Kong bios:B796 - model:3000-GI Euro - sn:3039137 - made in Hong Kong

IIRC it was discovered there was an issue with Debris on some Vectrex consoles, all 7ADB types, after Martijn had sent some of the carts out. He fixed it, and then the rest of them were shipped, again iirc. So only some of the carts are "faulty" I believe, and the game didn't fail with all 7ADB instances. It was more an obvious precaution to take. Of course, I could be remembering this wrongly, it was ten years ago heh.

Its strange what works on which vectrex, I think its also related to the age of the machines.

I like Juan's eeprom cartridges - bit difficult to determine which game is selected on the 16 game version.
