To remove the air bubbles you might be able to use a bondo spreader and "right-on". This is what we use at the body shop to replace very large decals on panels. The right-on helps it to not adhere immediately and once it's in place you use the bondo spreader to start from the center and push the fluid and air bubbles out. While wet it's possibly to slide it so you get more than one chance to get it right. I can't find the right-on brand specifically with a quick google search so it might only be a body shop distributor only thing.
