Can't remember where I saw it but I think somebody on here was asking for a second controller for the Vectrex? Just to let you all know that Chuck Van Pelt of www.RecycledGamer.com has now opened an online store. Currently he’s got a range of different modded game controllers forsale including SNES D-pads, SEGA Genesis pads and several types of arcade stick. These are all digital only (no analogue) but our compatible with the majority of Vectrex games.

Damn, the controllers cost more than the repo Light Pen?! But then, I guess the latter's easier to do than the controllers, since the basics of that (from what I understand) come from a magic marker, pretty much Plus I'm used to the $20 or $25 controllers from Dondzila.

Oh, they'll be amazing. I have an SNES controller made by Recycled Gamer (Chuck), and that works great for most everything (Hyperchase and Starhawk game setting 2 notwithstanding). These will be high-quality, built-to-last additions to any interested collection. I'm getting this model: shop.recycledgamer.com/collections/frontpage/products/modded-shadowblade-arcade-stick-for-vectrex as soon as I get my tax returns. I love that you can customize the joystick button! Chuck is a great guy, and an Organizer of the Portland Retro Gaming Expo. I once had an issue with the SNES controller and he swapped me out with a brand new one no sweat. Great customer service. I can't wait!

I love supporting guys who keep retro gaming alive. I'll be sure to do a review on the stick when it arrives.

My Review I ordered this arcade stick: shop.recycledgamer.com/products/modded-sega-genesis-6-button-arcade-stick-for-vectrexWhen I was finally able to get my own Vectrex, I was immediately concerned about controllers. I know that they are hard to come by separately, and I hadn't seen any modded sticks in a long time. I stumbled upon Recycled Gamer, and knew that I had to buy a stick while they were still in stock. I had a hard time deciding which one to buy, but finally settled on the 6 button Sega genesis stick. After I ordered, I thought to myself "Did I just spend $70 on an old Genesis stick?" I was hoping that I wouldn't regret the purchase. Now that I have it, I can safely say that it was worth every penny. The stick is durable, with a nice metal base. The stick actually looks like something that could have been made for the vectrex. It really doesn't look out of place hooked up to it like some of the other sticks I have seen. I was really worried about the stick itself, because I heard that it was not the clicky, microswitch type, but instead had softer action. I have quite a few arcade sticks for various systems, and I love the real arcade feel of a nice microswitch. Yet, the joystick on the one I ordered works remarkably well. It is very responsive, and it is so much better than the original controller for many games like Berzerk, Scramble, and Minestorm. The buttons feel really solid and are very responsive. I like the way the controller allows you to rest your palm, but still maintains a slim profile. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. Cosmetically, the stick has some minor dings and scratches, and there are tons of useless switches that clutter the panel a bit, but none of that really matters. In the end I have a really nice joystick that is now my default controller. The only bad thing is that I know I'll probably want to buy another! I hope that Recycled Gamer makes more in the near future.

Yeah sometimes that can be a worry, if they feel kind of mushy, rather than being "clicky", like with the Star Wars Original Trilogy plug and play unit, which feels that way, like an Atari 5200 controller. Luckily it responds much better than the 5200 ones though! Thanks for the write-up Hopefully the controller will last for a while too.

I got one last week and I feel like a really have to press the buttons hard to get it to work. Sometimes feel I have to press the button twice before it works. I feel bad complaining though because it is so incredibly awesome that he is producing this stuff.

That was the issue. Email him and I'm sure you can work something out. I'm meeting with him tomorrow (we live very close) to pick up my new Shadowblade stick, and I'll mention your situation.

What were his $20 controllers like? Any images anywhere? They were just converted Genesis control pads...you can see pictures of two of them here, under the Controllers (modern day) section not far from the top.

Thank you. .. So I assume you subsequently landed a converted snes pad that was more responsive? I wonder what the problem was.
