I just installed Vide on a new machine, got it running fine. One thing I notice is, that it doesn't scale based on my dpi scaling in Windows 10. This laptop is FHD (1080) but my eyes can't handle it at its natives res. The menus and text editor are too small in Vide. Not sure if there is an easy way to control this or not?

Gee... since I use standard Java components my hope would have been that java would have handled something like that on its own.
I dont know if there is an easy way - you might try altering the laf you are using. The tinylaf package including its laf- editor is included with vide under the external tools directory.
That is the only thing I can think of right now. A new laf can be set in the configuration...
(but doing that is also probably not a very easy way...) " Sorry for no smart and immediate answer...

Just downloaded Vide and am having a play with Vecci... need to watch your video tutorials in full now. Very impressed so far and this should save me a lot of time in creating the graphics up front for my next game.
Is it possible to resize the drawing window? On my screen I think 4x the current size would be about perfect.

Arrgh. You had to do it didn't you?
Poke your finger right into a sore spot.
Yeah, some day I will have an option to make those stupid vector editing panels resizeable. As it is now there is a little bit hardcoded stuff behind it, that makes it a bit non - easy. That was not one of my better programming deeds :-).
Only thing you can do right now is zoom in an out ...
Will get to it some day - but more likely in Vide V2.0 than Vide 1.05.

For Vide 3.0 have it auto-generate FPGA code to replicate itself in hardware. Requiring only a connection via existing wiring inside the Vectrex case in order to replace most digital and analog functions. Except input power and HV power that is.

is there any recommended hardware minimum specs for this package. the emulation is slow even with the tiniest of vectrex programs on my laptop. I already installed 64 bit Java RE I thought my CPU is just too slow but when I check CPU usage it's high but never pegged (around 75%). Any tips?

Hi, I know it might sound "cheap" - but as yet I still have to find a system, that can't run vide with 100% emulation speed, when in performance setting.
Even my "cheap" 4 year old laptop provided by my employer runs vide at 250% when in "performance" setting and without speed limiting.
I do not say, that Vide is "fast" by any means, but it is not as slow as you might think. After communication with some other people that run Vide (e.g. Manu - who did some experiments which he commented on the vectrex facebook page) - it really seems to be some weird problem between Java and (as far as I know) Windows 10.
(You run Windows 10 - don't you?)
Even run on my 2011 IMac in an emulated Windows XP environment Vide runs at 80% (though chopy sound).
If you have spare time and are willing - I would love for you to figure out a way to "fix" it and provide some more information.
Around Christmas I might get my hands on a Win10 machine (when I buy a new Laptop to give away) ...

My hardware is Celeron 1037U CPU and 12G RAM. This morning I tried setting the javaw process to Realtime Priority which seems to help quite a bit it it's still below 100% sometimes. Interestingly the slowness is worst when the game is first started and it's showing the title screen and built in music is playing. I tried checking and unchecking "PSG Sound" box but it doesn't make a difference in speed. I'll keep looking for things to change to try to improve performance and let you know if I find anything. brian

Hi, I found another "slow" computer, the lappy of my girlfriend - which even did not have a java version installed. I downloaded the default java version that can be found on the internet right now, that is: SE 1.8.0_101-b13, the download is actually a "jxpiiinstall.exe", which once run downloads the rest and installs java. After that Vide did run but as some reported at an abyssmal speed, of about 20%.After that I tried what Manu told "us" and is posted in the download section of Vide, I went to the page: java.com/en/download/manual.jsp and downloaded " Windows Offline (64-bit)" version (60MB) and installed that manually. Theoretically that should be the same, version info and all say it is the same. But after installing, vide is able to run (performance setting) at about 150% speed.
Specs: Sony Vaio (PCG 71211M), Windows 7 Ultimate (64bit) 4 GB RAM i3 CPU M 350 2.27 Ghz Regards Malban

hey Malban, i thought i would give VIDE a try so installed it on my sony vaio laptop which is not a recent laptop and has an intel T9600 core 2 duo 2.80GHz i'm running windows 7, 32-bit, and downloaded and installed the latest java the emulation is slow and with choppy sound, the counter in the vecxi window averages around '30' in VIDE im in the performance setting, is there anything else i can do or am i doomed with this sony vaio. i was wondering if i went to windows 7 64bit, do you think it would make much difference? or is there anything else i can do?

Actually - I don't know.
In the past I have always had good experience using java - and for all my needs it was sufficiently fast. The recent experiences with java running under windows seem to suggest otherwise.
It seems to be dependend on the mood of the Java version you have installed.
There is NOTHING in vide that would run any better under a 64bit version of windows. It is not really a memory hog either, so having a memory restriction of only an 32 bit OS wouldn't be much of a problem.
The only suggestion after recent events... try another java version (or perhaps install linux?).
Sorry for no other answer.
