Interesting that it includes the original dust cover. No kidding! I wonder what the deal is with the discoloration though? Looks like that's all that's left with the Vectrex-related stuff on that site too; everything else has sold.

That discolouration looks to me like ultra violet damage... it's been in the sun, or near a sunny window for a lot of its existance. UV damage makes the plastic brittle.

Perhaps a simple as color transfer from the dust cover.

Possible I suppose... I don't think it would transfer into some of the nooks and crannies though... I won't be bidding so not my worry

Wierd. it doesn't look like any sun discoloration I've ever seen. It's so uneven and blotchy in some spots and it's on every side of the case, (except the bottom?). And if they have a good condition dust cover like this you'd think the Vectrex sat covered. .. If the stains are from the dust cover itself, I would not guess they would be inside the screen shroud like they are. .. Maybe the dustcover degraded and it's kind of a dust all around inside.
I might actually bid on this. The auction is only a couple hours drive away from me. I bought an antique cast iron gas heater with "ceramic radiants" on EBTH last year for practically nothing. I had never seen anything like it before and there is some crazy stuff on EBTH sometimes.

I've seen UV degradation in my line of work occasionally. It can look patchy. The funny thing is it might rub off. I don't know the science but it's like something within the plastic is bought to the surface. Check out tbe rear shot of the machine. The internal molding is visible.

OR it's got a problem and it overheats internally.
