Would you really have to do that much just to get an XY image on an old TV or Monitor though? If you cut the X and Y cables going into the tube (deflection yoke) and run a signal through them you would get a rough Lissajous pattern. The X and Y of this probably wouldn't be even, but you could fix that (more or less) with a two channel amplifier. Then you could run output ether from a stereo sound source or better still from an Arduino to produce shapes on the screen. If using something like an Arduino you could relatively easily make a crude game that run on this. There are already libraries for the Arduino to produce vector graphics to an oscilloscope that could be used with this. I say relatively easily becase you are basically programming in C for the Arduino, as opposed to Assembly for a Vectrex. Don't lick the anode on the tube and you should be fine
