I had posted about this several days ago in the thread about Vectrex games that should come out, saying it's not that terrific a game, but it has since grown on me.
Again, the video for it...
As I had stated earlier, it's like Repulse from Vecmania, minus the fortress you have to destroy, and Revector without the severe intensity/power-ups that appear during the game. Hell, I guess it's like Rip Off too without the infinite lives and fuel cells to protect.
Again, you fly around and shoot ships. They fly at the exact same speed and turn as you do, but after several seconds the computer ships will pause, allowing you time to (hopefully) turn around and shoot them, although you'll miss a lot or smash into them, and then it's game over, as you only get one life. I just played it for 25 minutes or so, meaning I must've played like 80 games or so, as they can be over monstrously quickly. It can take a while before you get a good game where you actually destroy like eight enemies or so, as an additional enemy ship is added with every round cleared. Patience is the key, as you have to fly around in circles a lot before you can get in a good shot.
You also earn money with every round you get to and with each ship destroyed. Then you can purchase abilities that you can use; Boost is included for free with the game, making your ship go fast. You can only use one ability per game, although you can swap them out in between games. Others include a nuke (destroying ships in a big mushroom cloud, but that includes you if you touch it!), shots that bounce off the screen walls, the ability to freeze enemy ships and shots, one shrinks your ship (o...k! Not sure the point of that one!), etc. There's 15 in all and I've got most of them.
Now, that's where the fun sets in, as you play with an ability, want to try another one, so you swap them out...hence why I lay off the game for a day or two and then set aside time for it. Damn addicting, and you try just one more (dozen) time(s) to do better. And I would say I'll get to try out two players simultaneously with the nephew tomorrow but he might not make it for Thanksgiving. Humph...might have to wait until Christmas. I'll bet that's even way more fun, and it'll be cool to see how the enemies react to two of us.
The game's only available for Chrome devices though. It should be ported to other platforms.
