Hi, I recently found a vectrex that used to be my mother's. Sadly it didn't work when I turned it on. After opening it up and referancing pictures online, I realized that the power cord just ends and the metal box they would connects to is missing. Is there a specific name for the box?

Hi, I would be happy to help you. Could you be more precise about this metal box (may upload a pic)? The power cord is generally connected to a transformer, then a pcb with a fuse.

The box sits right behind the speaker at the bottom. Using my phone so I am unable to attach a photo, sorry.

My mom used to travel quite a bit around the time she bought it. So it's either from the Middle East or America. Anyway I can acertain this on the machine?

Send a picture of the labels from the rear of the Vectrex.

I think gauze asked what country it IS IN, currently, which will determine the specs of what is needed for you to use it again.
Perhaps this part was previously modified on your Vectrex, in order to use it in a country with different electrical service than the country of origin. Wierd that it would just be missing though, with the cord still present. Maybe someone began but never finished the modification?
I think if it was made for American consumption it will be branded GCE with grey logos and embellishments on the console and on the controller. If it was made for European consumption it will more likely be branded MB with red and blue embellishments. I'm not sure of this visual distinction and branding in other regions.
I wouldn't know the serial number distinctions but others might. If you can't post a picture you could still check for it on the sticker on the back of the Vectrex and tell us what it is. That sticker will probably also specify the country it was manufactured in.
I doubt there was a Vectrex specifically manufactured for sale in the Middle East and I don't know the electrical standards there. I am guessing though that most countries there use one pre-existing convention or another, n common with some other region like USA, Japan or Europe.
