Isn't copyright automatic in many countries? You need to be a bit careful there!
But, generally I think a dedicated Vectrex list and online (legal) ROM repository would be useful, along with a checksum/CRC.

Maybe more precisely, games that have been made available to download (for free) and thus you can use them for yourself (but obviously not sell repros!).

japjac: I'd much prefer if you removed all titles that aren't available for explicit download from the list. In other words: There shouldn't be any title without explicit permission of the game author for spreading a free binary. So please start your list from scratch and add only titles to the list of which you know the copyright situation. If in doubt you might ask people but the game must not added to the list. Otherwise this list will encourage people to send around dumps of copyrighted binaries which is illegal and not fair to the game authors. I'm still not clear what your list is good for and which games are on the list. Could you please explain?

I explained already mate, I don't know how to explain it in any other way, sorry. Besides, the lists are deleted now so it's irrelevant.
But understood, it's done, as requested.
Cheers.

Does anyone know if...
"Projekt X"
...was ever finished and "available for explicit download"?
Cheers.

Thank you for deleting the list, japjac . The many replies made the forum software paging (page 2/page 3) so I haven't seen your answer to my first post. This is why I asked, again.
I am only after binaries that are not copyrighted. I was told that Big Blue, Vector Pilot and Strasmash Zone are copyrighted, so I removed them from the list. It should'nt be a surprise to anyone that Big Blue, Vector Pilot and Stramash Zonse are copyrighted. Their developers (Chris Parsons, Kristof Tuts, and James Watt) still sell these games. So I'm not clear why you put them on the list of "Wanted binaries" at all. So if I understand this right, it's okay to have a binary of Mine Storm or Becky's Message but not Big Blue as it's copyrighted. And I respect this, like I said earlier. But my question is, how on earth is someone meant to know what is copyrighted and what is not copyrighted? That is the main purpose of this list, for me. Anything is copyrighted by the approproate author/developer unless the author explicitely grants rights to people. A simple rule - isn't it? Use the list of all games and try to find out whether the game is copyrighted. E.g. you can ask people or ask the game developer. If you don't find or have an explicit grant of rights from the author, you don't have the right to copy the game. I'm just not psychic when it comes to copyrighted Vectrex binaries, sorry. I'm not psychic but I'm informed about copyright and am concerned if Vectrex developers are cheated on. Actually, anyone using the internet should be aware of copyrights and try to respect them. If I was psychic I would try to find out the user names of those people who offer illegal binaries to other people via personal mail here in the Vector gaming forum and would ask the game authors to prosecute them.
All I want is that the rights and wish of Vectrex developers are respected so that Vectrex developers and resellers like Packrat Video games have a chance to get at least a little reward for all the effort they put in. I think that this is not asked too much.
japjac, I really appreciate that you have removed the list immediately. FAIK, until now a public list of all legal binaries (i. e. explicit permissions of the game authors or the owner) with a link to download these binaries doesn't exist. So creating such a list and keeping it up-to-date would be really a cool and helpful project.

Not at all, thank you for the thank you.
True and I completely agree with you. But in my defence, I suspect that you are forgetting that sometimes homebrew Vectrex developers produce physical copies of a game for sale and release a free binary to download at the same time or later on. Hence why all homebrew games were considered on the list, that's now been deleted. Plus some of us are newbies to the Vectrex scene so are no as au faut with such things as others.
How did you get along in helping to prosecute that person that uploaded VeCaves and Spike Goes Down to this very message board fairly recently, just out of interest?
Cheers.

Once you started a list I'm pretty sure that other forum members including developers like binarystar will be happiliy support you. Just like the first postings, here. How did you get along in helping to prosecute that person that uploaded VeCaves and Spike Goes Down to this very message board fairly recently, just out of interest? I'm not psychic.

Touche! 😉 I guess then this is the most comprehensive list I've seen: vectorgaming.proboards.com/thread/1346/list-vectrex-gamesI hope at some point it will be curated to denote next to each title what is shareware and what is copyrighted, that way we all know where we stand legally and morally. Cheers.
