So far i have used VIDE to try out the examples and some small stuff i've done in asm. With asmj (integrated in VIDE) it works perfectly. But now iI wanted to use AS6809 under macOS (64 Bit) to do some stuff on command line. - All the binaries I've found don't work anymore because of their lack of 64Bit support - I was able to fix some minor stuff in the source and makefile of AS6809 and I have now a binary (Assembler) that "works" - The issue is now that I can't even compile the simplest asm files without any errors. Like this: vectrexmuseum.com/share/coder/html/hello1.asm- What i miss here exactly? Are there different "dialects"? - Has someone an example that directly works with AS6809? Would be great to get any help from you Pro's on this. Im new on Vectrex and have just worked with Z80 (Sinclair ZX) before Thanks a lot!

Well... I am only guessing here... But if you read the last post, that might give some clue to investigate.
At least under windows the -i parameter of AS6809 does not work as intended - if under OSX that is the same... than that is the reason.
Your posted source at least is completely in upper case.

Thanks a lot for this feedback. Well, overall i struggle a little bit with which assembler I should use. There are a few of it and i still have not figured out with wich assembler and hello world i best start So will spend the weekend on it to read more and find out what might work best under macOS Catalina. Thanks a lot

Hi Peer, actually I use CMOC for my game dev on the Vectrex and also C/C++ in my day job, but I wanted better understand 6809 assembler programming... Game programming in Assembler gives the real retro dev feeling Cheers Roger

... Game programming in Assembler gives the real retro dev feeling No, that would be programming in BASIC
Many Cheers, Peer

I was thinking code, compile, burn, erase. Back in the day we were desperate for a faster serial port on the PC to EPROM burner and there were arguments when no-one bothered to put the dirty EPROMs in the eraser to cook. Happy days :-)

That's what I want: code, compile, burn, erase As said I had a working integration of C, but personally i wanted to learn & use 6809 Assembler. The issue is that not so many are using macOS Catalina and a lot of code examples are quite old. So binaries are mostly not usable and the ones i've created from source sometimes need patches. But LWASM works now as well and so I was able to solve "my situation" over the weekend Btw. here the link to the current milestone of the VEC3X IDE & Emulator i work: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuzX1Sje0HA
