Vectorblade is just fantastic, Thanks, Malban! I have a question: I play Vectorblade with Atarivox+ connected, but it makes strange vocals, looped. Something like "eeeeeh - aaaaaa- owowowow". Is my Atarivox broken? What phrases it should tell? Thanks! This may have been answered on FB already but it sounds like your Atarivox isn't set to the right voice mode, such as VecVoice, which won't work on this game. Make sure the dip switches are set to VecVox and it ought to work correctly for you.

I beat it on Normal. Current score: 5,298,464.
I thought I had it all figured out to beat the next difficulty but there are a few surprises that caught me off guard.

:outlander999 I can only assume. The AtariVox has 3 settings: a) AtariVox b) VecVox c) VecVoice It must be set to VecVox. It might be that you have set it to VecVoice. VecVoice is for example used by Verzerk. Other than that - I don't know. During beta test phase we had strange trouble of different VecVox using slightly different timing parameters, which resulted in VecVox being silent after a couple dozen of levels. But we never encountered a "strange noise" behaviour. Also beware - it seems newer AtariVox seem to have the dip switches falsly outlined in the accompanying manual. If you are on FB - there were some threads regarding that. Cheers Malban

Actually I just connected my AtariVox to my Vectrex in VecVoice mode. And it behaves exactly as you describe - so the solution to your problem defenitly is - "Switch it to VecVox!"

YES, Malban! I changed Atarivox+ configuration to VECVOX, now it works perfectly. It was my fault!

---- The "bomb" getting you described would be a bug, I have to test it.
There are "ways" to get bombs though. One is even described in the diary - at least if you know what to do, you will know what it says :-).
---- I have now found out how to REALLY get the bomb. Ha! Thanks! My explanation was not correct. I got irritated by the "bomb" display after ($) was collected. And once, when that happened, I happened to have the bomb with me - but I didn't know that I had triggered this secret differently.

I'm hoping that everyone is hooked on Vb and not playing anything else, then I might stand a chance of getting a few points on some of the others!

For Malban,
Can you release a version of Vectorblade to run on the Vectrex32 flash cart? I've got a Vectrex32 flash cart and was wondering if Vectorblade can be played on it?

Vectrex32 is no multicard - it is a card that allows you to program, play and store BASIC programs.
Vectorblade as of now ONLY can be played via a special PCB, VecFever or Vide-Emulation (and the web emulator).
I can not release a version that will run on other current multi cards because they hardware wise do not support Vectorblade bankswitching.

So I am a bit confused about VectorBlade. Is it a 256KB image that requires a special hardware cartridge to play?
Is the a playable demo or early version that will play on the Vec Multi cart? If so where can i find it?

So I am a bit confused about VectorBlade. Is it a 256KB image that requires a special hardware cartridge to play? Is the a playable demo or early version that will play on the Vec Multi cart? If so where can I find it? Earlier demos, UP TO A POINT, are playable on a VecMulti. Later versions including the software needed to see and use additional hardware resources that VecMulti, other multigame carts, and the "standard" PCBoards that support up to 64K binary images do not currently support. Larger binary image size handling is needed. An problem for most current multicarts. Expanded Bank Switching Support. Include Two Vectrex connector port pins. • Pin 35 - Goes to VIA Pin 16, ORB PB6 (Traditionally used for bank switching in 64K binary size carts) • Pin 36 - Goes to CPU Pin 3, IRQ For standalone boards additional ICs to interface with the cart port hardware lines and the memory (EPROM/etc.) It's all well documented on Malban's (http://vide.malban.de) site and on his github for Vectorblade (https://github.com/malbanGit/Vectorblade). Except if TLDR. Playing an earlier version of Vectorblade will be unsatisfying and uncomplimentary to the finished work. Especially so after after you have played the full version instead of the incomplete version made to fit 64K. I have played both. Andy Coleman had announced he was giving away a free Vectorblade cart with the purchase of his 72 in 1 Multicart. This was a was well publicized Black Friday special that ended on November 29th, 2020. But you may want to send Andy a message about buying the pair. Might be a higher price now his very generous special is over. Andy's site: vectrex.playntradeonline.com/ If you don't want to pay for a board, and you don't have a multicart that can support Vectorblade, then a few emulators and at least one development enviroment supports Vectorblade. VIDE, Malban's own Vectrex IDE supports it. So do a few online emulators with Vectorblade available as a title choice.

Thank you for that very detailed answer. I did find a VBLADEAlpha5.bin that is 64K, I will see if that works in the VecMulti. I did reach out to Andy Coleman..I had previously purchased a 72 in 1 multicart from him so i will he if he can sell me just the VB Cart. PackRat will also be making the VB carts but don't have a timelime on that also.
I could always build the PCB but don't have an eprom burner...so will wait for responses from Andy and Packrat.

I have three different Vectorblade carts with v1.11, v1.12 & v1.13. What is the difference between all three variant VB carts?
I've noticed that Sean Kelly is selling the latest Vectorblade v1.13 complete cartridge set as of 8/12/2022.
