There is a massive community on Facebook with the Vectrex Fans Unite group. This might be a community where people just never loose interest in at least playing the games. I will say that all the major youtube channels mention Vectrex favorably. So there's a lot of positive exposure for the systems. In addition, there are just so many amazing games coming out to continually draw people in.
I would recommend making at least 50 copies of a game if not lots more. 10 won't last long even if exclusively offered up here.

"Why could I buy my Vectrex then for £40 including postage" To be fair, that would be unusually cheap even ten years ago. I bought my Vectrex right around 10 years ago as well, and I paid $200 CND to a local seller - that was roughly $160 US at that time - and I considered that a bargain. Even then, a Vectrex in good working order but no boxes or extras was typically going on eBay for $200-$250 US plus shipping. And trying to find one locally via Craigslist or whatever? Forget it! Prices for all retro gaming systems have skyrocketed in the last year with COVID: this is for pretty much every system and games from the 1980s or 90s. Folks are trapped at home, they can't get out and travel or spend time with friends, and so older game systems have really gained in popularity. I don't see the trend evening off until COVID numbers are under control - maybe another year? And even after that, I don't expect prices to drop to pre-COVID numbers.

Around 12 years ago I sold a Vectrex on ebay (Boxed with 16 boxed - mint games) for AU$500.
If I were to sell the same package today it would probably go for at least AU$2500.
Prices have changed alot.
Daniel.

The prices may be going up but , hopefully , the more you pay - the more you want to get out of it!
Keeping games development going , and prices going up ( unfortunately ).
I wonder if we will ever get to the point of a remake of the console?

^I doubt it, just the Vectrex Regeneration mobile app we got several years ago. Wasn't there a homebrew vectrex board being made? This: www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wEOUa8Gshk&t=32s&ab_channel=ArcadeJason hackaday.com/2020/05/07/scopetrex-is-a-game-console-for-your-oscilloscope/ I have no idea why someone isn't selling these pre-built. The Scopetrex sounds like an ideal test platform.I think the hardest thing to find would be the screen as these just arn't being made anymore. I saw several broken Vectrex going for £250 and up on eBay now!? Are people spending that on a 'broken' system in the vain hope that it's an easy fix? Or are they hoping the monitor still works. And willing to pay that for the CRT alone.

That's cool. I'll have to check that out once the internet connection here is improved once we get our pc back up and running this week, as I've just moved and this Chromebook I'm using is really slow (something malfunctioned, if not flat-out went out on it a few years back and it's been really slow for online stuff ever since).

Capacitors aren't that expensive and sometimes its just the fuse but I do see A LOT of people post about broken Vectri in the Facebook Group.

As long as the CRT and flyback transformer are working, everything else on a Vectrex is repairable.

As long as the CRT and flyback transformer are working, everything else on a Vectrex is repairable. At a cost, depending on what's wrong... Still seems a lot of money for a big plastic lottery ticket to me I saw one where the tube was more than likely broken, I asked the seller about it and they actually seemed honest, that still went for over £250. Maybe that's chump change to some people. I wouldn't pay that, but obviously some people thought it still worth the risk.

The Vectrex cost $199.00 back in 1982, so that would be $560.00 (£440.00) when adjusted for inflation. £250 seems like a great deal to me!

Assuming you think a (petty much) 40 year old piece of technology should hold it's value, which dosn't happen very often. Over half the adjusted RRP for a broken system sounds like a "great deal" to you! Well... lets just say we are very different in that regard Who in 40 years will be willing to pay half the, inflation adjusted, value for a broke Play Station 5 or XBox series x or s I wonder?
