Some Vector War and Star Castle history: In Vector War II, Star Castle was played and Rob Maerz, initiator of the Vector War, knew how to play it. Rob scored 1.010.720(!) using video proof because the score rolled. At that time scoring was by percentage of the maximum score - as a consequence all other players got something like 1 - 3% for their playing. That had been the first time I had thought that too high threshold scores are a nuissance, that Star Castle needs a maximum score to avoid marathoning and that a scoring system based on percentages of maximum score isn't fair. During the years rules have been refined to what they are now. Just to make sure: That was a great effort of Rob and I'm very thankful that Rob initiated the Vector War - perhaps one day he'll even show up and participate, again. ___ darrin9999: Welcome to another Vector War, Darrin. Great that you fired up your Vectrex, again. Addendum: My recordings say that your first Vector War was VW3 back in 2013. Honestly, a speciality of the scoring system is that your rank in a game gets more valuable the more players play this game and rank below you. The points table shows this well, e.g. for second player it starts with just 35pts while it's 94pts given that 25 players have played this game and rank below you. |
