That's alright in regards to asking, although if you look back through the board, most of the answers in regards to "Joust" have already been voiced. No, it won't be released publicly. I may make a video some day just to demonstrate how far (or how little) Alex had gotten through the code. If I ever see the overlays, I'll praise some invisible deity. If I was going to Eurocon this year (sadly a conflict with a mate's wedding!), then I was tempted to bring one of the cartridges for "show and tell".
In regards to collecting, I'm quite a niche person. Niche as in formats that didn't get a lot of releases or weren't mega popular. The only exception there is the Commodore 64, and arguably the Vic20. Aside from the Vectrex, I also collect for Atari 7800, Neo Geo Pocket Color, N64DD and Nuon, although like the Vectrex, I've pretty much got everything for all of those formats too. I already own a full US Gamecube set on top.
@darrin - interesting to see the "newer" versions of those homebrews on your shelf and compare, as I have the "older" versions from when Mark Shaker was making them. Guess your copy of Hexed arrived, hopefully mine will turn up later this week.

I can't believe I forgot to ask you what you thought of Hexed, along with how it compares to Vector 21. I just got it yesterday and I have not had a chance to play it yet!

^Just in time for a photo op only then! @darrin - interesting to see the "newer" versions of those homebrews on your shelf and compare, as I have the "older" versions from when Mark Shaker was making them. Yeah, it's interesting to see how those change, like with the later Y*A*S*I cover art reflecting the original Space Invaders cabs with the invaders about throw down a missile (or maybe they just show invaders without the missile, I can't recall which; still different from the one I have either way though).

You did pay a rather commendable price (and for a good cause, as well) I do hope those overlays appear someday for you, good luck in that venture. Perhaps bringing it as a piece to show off can await a future Eurocon! [Or perhaps a classic gaming convention here in the US] Coincidentally, I also have aspirations of a similar nature, and like you, have considered myself as a niche entity (albeit lacking a collection as admirable as yours to speak for). The NGPC and Nuon have been on my "to buy" list since they were released, though young age and thus funds have left them on that list. One day, though. Although I do not see any mention of the Virtual Boy, is that not one you collect for? I always deemed the VB along with the Vectrex as the epitome of niche consoles. As you can probably tell, I am rather new to the Vectrex scene , but I find myself with a desire to learn as much as I can about the history of the scene. That being said, I will take a gander through the forums to learn more about "Joust" and if I find any questions I have unanswered, I will direct them to you via PM.

I don't think the Joust Evolution demo has been discussed here before, if I remember correctly.

He stated part of the deal was that no copy of Joust Evolution would ever be released by him Did he just give up on it?

Pretty much, mostly due to the potential IP infringement issues.

Apart from the more regular stuff, some of the more rare original Vectrex stuff I have is:
- one of a kind (as far as I know) 220V GCE console modded by GCE when it was introduced in Europe shipped to the product manager of MB in Germany - together with a GCE prototype of spinball (I got these of his son)
- GCE prototype with an early revision of Minestorm II (came from Floyd R. Wilk)
- NIB canadese system / sealed game/ controller
- Vectrex magazine
- Sales brochure from GCE retailers saleskit
- 'welcome to the MB vectrex' club letter set including membership card
- Minestorm II cart
- Showcase backdrop plastic
- aftersales shipped overlay + orginal packaging

I'd like to see photos of the GCE retailer's sales kit and the showcase backdrop plastic, if you are taking photos of the collection

Also altering level sequences by the way.. I'd have to look into my archive from when I dug into this.. anyway, pics coming up!
