The pics do look convincing. I'll get my antenna fixed.

Oh well, what ISN'T suspicious in regards to some new person joining just to post about that? But then someone did the same thing several years ago, saying they had a copy of the very rare educational game Eli's Ladder when they bought a 2600. Someone on there (forgot who) very smoothly offered to buy it for a few dollars. People were suspicious that the person would've just forked it over. Several days later he posted a photo of himself holding the game, as newbie idiot supposedly did indeed sell that for very little money. If the whole thing was a joke I didn't hear about it later, but if it was legit...jeez. Guy got away with murder.

I am the owner of the boxed Mr. Boston. I assure you all it is real. I found this at the Colorado Springs Flea Market on 1 September. I took the photos with my droid and uploaded so I could get Atari2600.com to look at a bent pin. I was worried the game was broken because it wouldn't play in my Vectrex. I opened the cart and found a bent pin. This is when someone asked on AA if the authentic cart was an EPROM. I've only had one person's explanation so far but I was told that limited runs were sometimes EPROMs. Anyway, I received Spike last night and finally got to test the Vectrex. The Vectrex died in the same exact place Mr. Boston does; right after the screen where you choose game and number of players.
I am a hardcore video game collector and have a thousands of games and systems in my basement. I've always wanted a Vectrex and couldn't believe that someone at my local flea market had a boxed system and wanted only $20. I've already told the rest of the story on AA and now here we are.
My wife has been telling me how much she thinks I'll regret selling this game. Until last Saturday I had never even heard of it. Now that I have it, especially the way I found it, it is getting difficult to let go. I am interested in discussing offers. I'd like to know what this game is currently worth.

I searched google and found there were multiple threads about the Vectrex on AtariAge.com. I am so new to forums that I posted my announcement in a very old forum that had nothing to do with Mr. Boston really. I still don't know how to post a new thread.

Bayougames, even if you got a defective Vectrex, the fact that you got a boxed Mr. Boston more than makes up for it. I agree with your wife, though, I think you'll regret selling it. It is an extremely rare find.

I think the cart will work. I got a copy of Spike and my Vectrex did the same thing. I'm going to try cleaning the cart reader and then replace it if that does not work.
I choose the avatar because I didn't know how to post photos and wanted to show the copy I found. I later found out how to upload photos to my gallery on AtariAge.
The bent pin seems intentional. It was bent before the chip was soldered to the board.

Hi Bayougames. If you've just got a dead Vectrex you've had a right result! You can pick up those pretty easily. If your Mr Boston works there will be plenty of jealous individuals on this forum. If you're planning to sell be careful and do your homework first. Keep us updated.

I haven't been able to verify that the Mr. Boston cart works but I did confirm my Vectrex is not working. I bought a copy of Spike that also died in the same spot as Mr. Boston. I will work more tomorrow to get the Vectrex working so I can at least play the game once before selling it.

This one's all gone quiet. (Or has it...?) Legit or not? Sold or not? Any word on the street? Maybe my bs detector wasn't broke after all...

I have not heard a peep about this again. So, who knows? Maybe it was legit and the owner has just decided to keep it and that accounts for the silence.

Sorry it's been a while since my last post. I confirmed that my Vectrex system works. I used 300 grit sand paper to clean the cart reader and now my Spike cart works. I sent Mr. Boston to Joe Cody of Atari2600.com. He tested it and confirmed the cart does not work. He contacted another Mr. Boston owner to see if the disconnected pin on the EPROM is supposed to be like that. We're just waiting on the collector to check his copy now.

Pity... hopefully you can get it working. If not, I'd probably still be interested depending on the price...
