The CGE guys contacted me about a week ago about a Video Game Museum display that they were working on in conjunction with the upcoming Disney animated feature, Wreck-it Ralph. A part of the display was to include a Vectrex and they wanted me to "vectorize" Ralph, recreating his animation from the video game in the movie, where he gets angry and says his tagline "I'm Gonna Wreck it!" So, I gave Ralph the vector treatment, which was approved, and then I got an email yesterday saying that Disney backed out of the entire deal. I thought that it was already a done deal, didn't know that they were still negotiating. Anyway, here's Vector Ralph for your amusement. I never got to the animation, unfortunately. Attachments:

That's great-looking! Who is it you're still in touch with over at GCE? Too bad about Disney, as the poor Vectrex AGAIN gets a snub This has GOT to stop!

CGE (Classic Gaming Expo)
It wasn't only the Vectrex, it was the entire display, so all systems got snubbed.

CGE (Classic Gaming Expo) Ha ha, wonder why I read that one wrong ;D It wasn't only the Vectrex, it was the entire display, so all systems got snubbed. So Wreck-It Ralph got Wrecked, or everyone did

That looks great! Thanks for sharing it. It sucks that the deal fell through, though.

Have to say, after drawing Ralph, I did get motivated by the idea of possibly pursuing a 1st or 3rd person perspective boxing game, done in the classic style with unique, cartoony opponents. Any thoughts on this?

Oh, that would be a fun game to play as long as it isn't just a two-player game.

No, actually it would be only a 1-player game.
It would be an original title, and not a clone/copy/remake of these, but in a similar style as a Punch-Out or a Super KO Boxing type of game, and any other boxing game where the perspective stays the same from behind your fighter, or even a 1st person perspective could also be done.

Anyway, here's Vector Ralph for your amusement. I never got to the animation, unfortunately. That looks great. Hmm, I just added animation to my vector editor last night, to help with my latest game, so I gave it a trialrun on your vector-Ralph. ;D It's a complete rush job and probably haven't taken more than 30 minutes to do, so if the animation is a bit simple that's why.

Maybe a Vectrex version of Fix-It Felix should be made, or a Wreck-It Ralph offshoot, haahaa. Too bad Disney is so dumb when it comes to these things. I still wish, back when "Tron" first came out, that they'd had the presence of mind to release arcade versions of Space Paranoids, Matrix Blaster and the rest of the Encom games. www.encominternational.com/catalogue.htmBut then they also dropped the ball by not making and releasing the Maroon Cartoons that exist in the "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" universe (there's a scene in the Maroon Cartoons studio that shows various posters for current Maroon Cartoons that do not feature Roger or Baby Herman), instead blowing a few million dollars per Roger Rabbit cartoon (which are amazing) and quickly realizing that they weren't profitable. They could have created another Looney Tunes with brand new characters. On top of that, they wanted to use the modern character sheets for Mickey and Bugs when the setting called for the early versions of those characters. It's like a studio of cloned Michael Bays over there.
