I was looking around for one, the one in MAME/UME has no documentation I couldn't figure out how it works, what are people using for debugging?

ok apparently using -debug and -debug_internal switches don't work well together. (Still wouldn't mind hear about others debugging set ups)

Hi, did a debugger for ParaJVD come out? Having wasted a couple of hours with a stupid overwriting a variable by accident mistake today I'm really craving a debugger, even a basic one!

I have ParaJVD somewhere on an old PC, but not actually using it at the moment - just testing in ParaJVE. It has a key for each user so nobody can really share it with anyone else . I would contact Parabellum and ask him, he did take a while to reply and then said he would sort it out, but I did have to give him a friendly reminder. He's a good guy though. Hopefully at some point he will just release it for everyone to use even though its an early version. He obviously is a busy guy

Maybe we should send him a .bin with a message asking to release it plllleeaase cNp: its probably also worth sending him a link to your current game WIP thread

Heh, yeah, I have started printing to screen but I'd love to be able to step through the code and have break points... have PMd Parabellum.

I never got ParaJVD working, but haven't really done anything about it...

I should be getting my key some day soon so hopefully it will help me at least a little!

Also I just noticed reading some webpages, people in the past used DVE... but being D stands for DOS which means with a modern PC you need to emulate DOS. I've had some success using Dosbox , using D-Fend Reloaded frontend which seems a nicer way to setup things like CPU speed (as standard dosbox even setting cpu speed didnt seem to help that much, when I tried it anyway). Alt-M turns on monitor mode - as you can see it tells you the current values in the registers.... you can type help and it gives you a load of settings such as setting break points and stepping through code timing the wait_recall to see how many cycles you are using per frame (thats what I'm using it for right now) etc. and lots more!

Its also well worth reading in the vectrex docs (the zip file floating around with all the source) Chris Salomons source for frogger, especially his progger.txt which goes into a bit of detail of his optimisation process, also mentions he worked on DVE (so its him who put all the debugging stuff in)
