What makes you sad about the Presskit? There aren't many known examples (one?), but at least it is in good hands, scanned, and shared with everyone.
I just want to ponder where it came from - was it a one-off CES thing? The content doesn't suggest it, but the apparent rarity (I've never seen one sell) does.

What makes you sad about the Presskit? Just days gone by/the Vectrex getting screwed into becoming a bit of an underground system years later. Things that could've been.

I went and scanned some magazine ads for the MB Vectrex. I found them in a Flemish (Dutch-speaking part of Belgium) comics magazine, dating from 1983. They look really lame, it's like they didn't know with what graphics to fill the page! Talk about unexiting advertisement.. Check the attachment I added for the first one. Attachments:

They look really lame, it's like they didn't know with what graphics to fill the page! No kidding! "Too much white space", as my high school journalism teacher would've said. I like all the Vectrex elements along the borders--the ships and all--but other than that...not much else of a comment here from me here

Heh, I kind of like the one with the boy and girl actually. Yes it is sparse on the page and yes it is lacking in explicit promotion of VECTORS. But it IS a curious and amusing image that does seem to allude to Vectrex thematically and mechanically. The way the girl (and some other objects in the image) are rendered to be zooming away in one straight direction seems to allude to vector movement. Also what is up with that (lamp shade?) above them? Might that be a reference to the mine laying ship in Minestorm? ... The color illustration of the Vectrex on top of the grid in the corner is one of my favorites as well.
The lameness of the boy/girl ad is part of a moderately successful gag in my opinion. ...Agreed the ad with the boy in the chair is just totally lame though.

Also what is up with that (lamp shade?) above them? Might that be a reference to the mine laying ship in Minestorm? I think it's just the power of the Vectrex knocking things around in the room. Also, what's with the little triangular face in the border of both the ads? It doesn't look like anything I've seen for the system, unless it was one of the canceled projects due to the crash, or maybe it was just a face because they made a face for the ad just for the heck of it (if that made any sense).

These are freaking awesome turbogfx, thanks for sharing! Do you (or anyone) read Dutch and can translate? I'm almost positive there's no new information here, but whenever something refers to it as the Vectrex Portable Game Computer, my interest is piqued I like how the ad with the boy and the chair is reminiscent of the 'wind-blown chair' ads of the '80s. Makes me want to photoshop my face in there, like Darryl did with some other ads... Good point Darryl, there are a few sprites in the margins I don't recognize - the little triangular face, the 'angel' in the top right corner, and a couple of geometrical shapes as well. I wonder what the deal is? EDIT: Wie d'r mee speelt is verloren - you're damn right my speelt is verloren.

Memorex...that was the first thing I thought of when I saw the second ad too Good point Darryl, there are a few sprites in the margins I don't recognize - the little triangular face, the 'angel' in the top right corner, Good eye, I didn't even catch the angel myself. Hmmm...? EDIT: Wie d'r mee speelt is verloren - you're damn right my speelt is verloren. Good ol' Google translate?

It is really hard to see from these scans, but I've been able to work out the first couple lines:
In the US, they can not stay away and now [there are more?] Belgians who can believe. On the Vectrex Portable Game Computer.
With no less panel where you have the TV...
It is also hard to work with translation programs...the best English translation of "Wie d'r mee speelt is verlorn" is "Anyone who plays it is lost" and that doesn't seem right at all.
Is there a possibility of a scan with a close-up of the words? That would help this process greatly...

These are freaking awesome turbogfx, thanks for sharing! Do you (or anyone) read Dutch and can translate? Dutch is my native language. I'll translate it. Although the text is for about 99% the same as the one in the promotional flyer/brochure I posted on here a while ago: vectorgaming.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=vectrex&action=display&thread=439Both the magazine ads and the folder must have been published around the same time..

This is the translation I would make:
In the US people can’t keep their hands off it, and now Belgium will have to succumb to it as well. To the Vectrex Portable Game Computer. [It is] a unique, portable, universally connectible game computer with its own display that is directly derived from popular arcade machines. And so [it comes with] “bright graphics”, zooms-in and zoom-out [effects], a 360° rotateable joystick, etc. And the game Mine Storm is already programmed [into the console]. Every single one of the games are a hit in their home country, America. Right now, already 18 game cartridges exist, and the choice of games grows with each day. Why don’t you take a seat behind a Vectrex at your nearest Vectrex dealer. Just make sure you tell your parents where you’re at.
Vectrex Portable Game Computer “Those who play it, are lost [without it].”

Awesome. Thanks for saving me a lot of work...It pretty much IS identical to that other pamphlet you posted.
"Those who play it, are lost [without it]" make a lot more sense!
"Why don't you take a seat behind a Vectrex at your nearest Vectrex dealer. Just make sure you tell your parents where you're at." lol
Thanks again, turbogfx, very cool!

Not quite sure whether this fits in here: Just found a Vectrex page with various Vectrex PDF documents. Maybe these docs are known to most Veccies, already: * Vectrex Trouble shooting Guide * Programming Guide part * Cinematronics programming reference manual * Cinematronics programming manual * Japanese magazine * Vectrex display assembly instructions * How to make a muliticart * Vectrex Service Manual * Presskit release www.gametronik.com/site/emulation/vectrex/
