Received my Warrior yesterday (20150810) Did your Warrior come with an overlay? I clicked through over half of your 300 photos and didn't see an overlay in any of the pics.

Everyone is going to ask what number yours is, this is so people waiting can get an idea of where George is in relation to the number they have been assigned.
From what I can tell, there is no external numbering. Presumably similar to recent releases after Vector 21 and Lord of the Robots, numbering is only on the internal game menu?

Interestingly I was supposed to get #042 but it appears I have cart #041
I see your box has some of the same issues mine has -- it's not quite a box at the corners but seems to be unfolding and flattening. I've never really been pleased with any homebrew cardboard boxes though. I'd rather a VHS clamshell or rental NES type of box.
The cart case has been 3D printed but it's still kind of rough around the edges -- kind of disconcerting when small chunks flake off when you insert the cart.
I'll reserve judgement on the game itself for later. Warrior certainly didn't set the coin-op vector gaming world on fire -- it's no Star Castle or Tempest.

The cart case has been 3D printed but it's still kind of rough around the edges Yikes! I think that would be very time consuming and not the most stable results. It really is not a good way to make 150 of the same item. It takes hours to 3D print objects of that size on the equipment I have seen. .. And other photos show the PCB glued to the case so I guess you cant really take it apart? I wonder why it is glued? I'd prefer bare PCB and loose label, or to send in a standard cart shell of my own to use. Or just don't glue it together or put the label on.

If the Warrior cart from the current batches is a 3D printed cart shell then I'm the next President of the United States.
Or maybe my two carts are special and separate from the rest?

I'd be willing to put money on the fact that the shell for my copy of Warrior was 3D printed. The faux copyright text on the bottom half is reasonably fuzzy compared to a real moulded shell.

I was curious about this. Vectrexer's pictures look different than 3D items I have seen and the irregularities look more like casting imperfections. I think pro manufacturing molds are made out of metal. But the hobbyist can make smaller production molds from silicone. .. The mold may be near perfect but it will degrade with use and also it is difficult to get perfect castings without a pressurized system and mechanical injection of the cast material. .. Now that I think about it, this might not be much less time consuming than 3D printing. Why is the pcb GLUED in place? Does this look irreversible? Would the shell not be able to take a screw? I wonder what the deal is with the cart shell shortage which seems to have effected a majority of the game makers for a year or more now.

Where is a link to pics of your Warrior shells? Some overall pics, and some close-up pics of the copyright area, would be good to have if you are taking more.

If the Warrior cart from the current batches is a 3D printed cart shell then I'm the next President of the United States. Or maybe my two carts are special and separate from the rest? I noticed my cartridge case for Warrior wasn't as cleanly cut as the other home brews cartridge cases I've got. The edges are a bit rough. But, the cartridge is still better than anything I have seen from a 3D printer. On another note, I notice with my Warrior overlay, that when placed on the Vectrex display, the graphics appear fuzzy. Never seen that with an overlay before. I like overlays, but with Warrior I have to play without the overlay. I'm just wondering, if the issue is with my overlay alone, or others see the same issue?

I went back to have a look at the cartridge again, and it isn't as bad as I recalled it being. It's comparable to the photos you took of your cartridge. It's not a "genuine" repro shell a la Kelly, but George has manufactured enough to put out copies of Warrior using some method.

Unfortunately, mine's also blurry : I was wondering whether there was some kind of protection film to peel off (like yours)

The warrior carts look injection molded to me, just not a great result, with some bubbling/flaking happening.

I've never really been pleased with any homebrew cardboard boxes though. I'd rather a VHS clamshell or rental NES type of box. The box I got some time ago was fine. Maybe you don't buy many homebrews but the boxes that AtariAge uses for their boxed games are excellent, as are the boxes made by Freelancer (I've bought mostly Atari 5200 boxes from him) - www.freelancer-games.com/atari-us.phpThe cart case has been 3D printed but it's still kind of rough around the edges -- kind of disconcerting when small chunks flake off when you insert the cart. I'll reserve judgement on the game itself for later. Warrior certainly didn't set the coin-op vector gaming world on fire -- it's no Star Castle or Tempest. I'm curious why you would buy a boxed game that isn't all that cheap if you're that underwhelmed by the game to begin with. It's one of my favorite vector arcade games so I'm biased, but if I thought it was average or weak I wouldn't buy the homebrew of it.
