There was a post elsewhere in regards to a couple of the games so I thought I'd give this a start I don't have much to pitch in though, since as I said, I've only played the Sega Master System Ys: The Vanished Omens and Ys 3 for the Genesis. I didn't think much of the latter (aside from the killer music, it just seemed to be a bit of a generic RPG to me), but I really liked the other one though. I literally gasped out loud at one point a bit into the game where I thought I'd pop in on Sara the seer to seeing a sad-looking old man there telling me she was dead. At least he gave me another Ys book to make up for that though I thought the game was fairly inventive with several elements (having to use that mask to find that one passage in that castle, having to use a weapon against the final boss made of silver, although mapping out the damn cave was a pain!) and was one of the few RPGs I've gone through several times. Well that's about all from me, how about pics in regards to those Ys t-shirts that was mentioned in that other thread?!

Sorry can't help had the Snes version Ys III but traded it for Snoopy and the Red Baron for the 2600.
When it comes to RPG's I really only played the Sega CD ones like Lunar, Lunar II and Vay.

Argh, nice tease, as I want those games for my Sega CD ;D Nice to hear they're good, or that's what I gathered from your post at least.

I've played Ys I & II Chronicles for PSP, and they held my attention so long I 100% beat both games. Like, used the Beastiary Potion and farmed monsters to learn their stats, talked to every character, obtained every item, etc. Fantastic series, amazing soundtrack. While you're right, Ys III feels a lot more modern, I actually like how much control the attack scheme gives you. I haven't beaten it yet, but so far I'm really enjoying the PSP version: The Oath in Fhelgana. Gamezone, I know you didn't mean to, but you just hit one of my pet peeves. I hate it when people talk Working Designs Sega CD games without at least mentioning Popful Mail. You mentioned EVERY ONE but Popful Mail! I'm joking (I know you were talking about RPGS), but Popful Mail is a seriously underrated gaming experience.

Sorry desfeek!! I would have never tried to offend. Hope the pic helps. I have tried countless times to play Popful Mail. But as you know it is a totally different game and I understand. I really enjoy Vay out of all the Working Designs games and it sometimes gets the least respect. My nephews loved to play Popful Mail so much that I thought okay I would buy the strategy guide to help me out. Well...I'm still not doing so good on finishing it. Attachments:

I admit I messed up by leaving it off the list. Yep VectorX! Have you been converted to the power of SEGA yet? HA! HA!

haha yeah no worries gamezone, I know you weren't trying to hurt feelings ooo I want that strategy guide. I just haven't seen one for a decent price. I had the Lunar strategy guide forever (came with my original SCD, with Popful Mail - parents bought it from a friend who had just upgraded to PS1) but no game to go along with it. I've fixed that hole I remember being stuck in Popful Mail for literally years. The Wood Golem, Venuncio's trap, and the Mithril Guardian were all the bane of my existence in the mid-90's. I won't deny it's an incredibly hard game, but I think the experience is worth it. I can complete the game in about 10 hours now, although I remember my father had gamesaves with 30+ hours on them. You gotta farm gold, just like an RPG, to get your healing items and the best equipment available.

:)thanks desfeek! I'm telling on myself but I'm still trying to complete Lunar II. 17 years later I'm caught saying "Maybe when I finish that one and I'll get started on Popful Mail again."
You are right it truly is an underrated game. 10 hours is awesome, when I play it I fell like Patrick from SpongeBob. Drool and all(uuuh what do I do next SpongeBob). HA HA!

On a related note, I keep telling myself I'll eventually get through Willy Beamish. But that thing loads so horribly slow...ick...at least you can save your blasted game though...

VectorX you hit that one on the head. But at least they give you the little play screen while you wait on loads.

No, they play Pac-Man clones or Hangman, I think (I have the Star Trek Bridge Simulator cd, where you can poke around the bridges of several Starfleet ships, pressing buttons to make sounds or bring up an image or video clip. Just as a joke, the publishers of the cd planted a couple of games on that original Trek Enterprise bridge. A Pac-Man clone and I think Hangman were supposedly the games. Funny reply though )

Those are some pretty sweet manuals! I played Lunar Silver Star on Sega CD, PS1, and PSP... Buuuut, I have to admit that I haven't heard of Popful Mail until now! Plowed through Ys Seven (brilliant new direction for the series), Finishing up Oath In Felghana (Love it and leagues better than Ys III, even though some dialogue is goofy. Some is exceptional! Elena is a shining example.), and have Ys I & II Chronicles waiting for me after that (though I've already played through I & II before). Can't wait for the Ys IV remake to come out on Vita! Here's the link to Xseed's website and store: xseedgames.com/store.phpScroll down to witness the AWESOME. It's blinding
