I was shopping at Best Buy in the 1990's and seen they were closing out the 3DO system. The wife was with me and said hey they have Family Feud. I said yep but I really want Space Ace.
She said "Well the systems only $69.99 and the games are $4.99 each why not get a few." what she really meant is if you get that it better come home with Family Feud.
So I purchased the system and the games shown. It came with Gex and I thought five games all together wasn't bad for what I paid. It turned out to be a really good system when my wife wasn't playing. So you know we still pull it out every New Year's Day and play a game or two of Family Feud.
Not having kids at the time my nephews loved to come over and play Gex and Soccer Kid. Space Ace was a little to hard for them at the time. Who am I kidding it's harder than the arcade version.
A few years pass and I started a new job with a friend I had known from my younger years but didn't know he was into video games. So we started talking on breaks at work. He told me what he had and I told what I had. Then it turned into do you know you can download system roms such as 2600, 5200, Nes, Snes and iso's for the Sega CD and 3DO and burn them to a disc. I said no didn't have a clue and aren't CD burners expensive. Yeah he said but we can dream.
Well I haven't tried burning discs but I have picked up some more games like B.C. Racers, Dragon's Lair and Road Rash. I have been very impressed with the quality of the games.
As a system it uses one port for the controller but they actually made some neat controller ideas to get around it.
If you haven't looked into one of these systems then I highly recommend it. It has a very diverse title selection and if anyone has the Japanese versions of Wacky Races(1960's cartoon show)games I would appreciate the info. They also made several Woody Woodpecker cartoon compliations. I hear you put them in and it plays like a dvd only on cd. Any info on those would be welcome also.
8-)Adult disclaimer there were several adult related games released. So you may not want to track those down and play around the kids.
