So is this based on the Atari 2600 (or maybe it was Intellivison) game of the same name?

Yeah, inspired by 'Frogs and Flies' on 2600, 'Frog Bog' on Intellivision.

Great to see a game suitable for children on the Vectrex. :-) I like the graphics and the sun as indicator for the progress of the game. Thanks for your excellent effort, Chris! :-)
Two ideas/thoughts:
- ATM, the screen graphics look very symmetric, perhaps there could be three mountain peaks instead of just two to make it look less symmetric and more "natural".
- An occassional random bubble/movement in the water might bring even more live into the scenery.

^You should, as it's free! I just downloaded a Wii game the other day, at first thinking that I wouldn't, since I'm not into beat 'em ups, but yeah, it was a free demo...
