A first effort towards Vectrex Pang and a very promising proof of concept. I feel so excited about this project that wouldn't mind to postpone my summer holidays... but my wife doesn't agree... so more information in september.
Happy summer for all vectrex lovers.

Yes, as "actual circles" as scale 20 allows Nevertheless the y scale of the vectrex make them a bit oblong

Wow, that is cool... are those actual circles? Chris Salomon did curves in VFrogger. I'm pretty sure the first actual circles were in my Magic 8 Ball toy. They're obviously pretty uncommon - Tricky and somewhat resource heavy. Certainly no one's completed a real game with them as a significant element. Attachments:8BALL.BIN (1.76 KB)

A first effort towards Vectrex Pang and a very promising proof of concept. I feel so excited about this project that wouldn't mind to postpone my summer holidays... but my wife doesn't agree... so more information in september. I may have mentioned in another thread that I have a bad habit of starting projects and not finishing them. Here's another one I really debated making this post since I don't want to hijack the thread or derail your enthusiasm. But pop.bin has been out in public for >10 years and has been misappropriated on multi-carts. So eventually someone's going to mention it which makes it the elephant in the room if I don't say anything. Bleh. Anyway, please let me know if you think the source code would be helpful and I'll send it to you. I don't think it's doing much of significance that you aren't already but maybe there's something interesting. I don't really want to post it publicly. I expect it's pretty crappy. Greetings!
I'd love to see more "curved" vectors :-)!
I think the first game to use them was Pole Position - if I remember correctly the road you race on is "curved".
Regards
Chris

Very nice effect Liking the smoothness. I wonder why more circles are not used in games vectrex... they´re good looking! (I guess the cause could be excessive processing time for the CPU, maybe causing some delay in scenes full of sprites) Like Malban I was very surprised with Pole Position... there are curves and moreover they are "dinamic" curves, with a perfect morph (three to the right and two to the left, alternating spins)

I am still working actively in this project, but today I have faced a big problem: the project will need a full redesign because the approach I have been using have reached its limits... feeling very sad. :-(
