Hey all.
I am interested in obtaining raw PSG files of the sound effects used in various Vectrex games. I am not interested in modern-computer-format waveforms, just the "sequencing" instructions that tell the AY-3-8912 what to do to make the cool sound effects.
Where could I find that stuff these days?
Thanks.

I'm fairly certain this does not exist and you would need to use a disassembler (or source code where available).

I really don't have the skills or background to disassemble existing ROMs. Maybe there is another way I can get the sound effects then.
Thanks.

The problem is most games of this era can have there sound programmed in a unique way to that game, so the sequencing is not some format you can interchange, it is a load of code. It is possible to dump the registers every frame, much like the YM/AY dumps. But that's a lot of effort. You could look at AYFX editor, where you could replicate AY sound effects. shiru.untergrund.net/software.shtml

I discovered the AYFX editor a couple of weeks ago. It's a great tool (although I could only find v.4 but the Youtube of it shows v.5) for starting from scratch. I thought that I might bother some of the geniuses here to give me a "leg up" on how I might get what already exists instead of potential re-inventing the wheel.
Thanks for the help and guidance though!
