I'm making a Circus Atari type game for the Vectrex (called Vectrex Circus just now) and I would like opinions on what screen layout looks best. Big images and less objects, or more objects (like the origonal) with smaller graphics. So far I've got the see-saw working for (rudimentary) bouncing of the man, and the objects scroll across the top of the screen, off the left end and back on right. Obviously it's easier to bounce the man with larger graphics and a larger hit-box area.

That's cool. I like the version with the smaller graphics best.

Smaller. A bit of a different game idea for the Vectrex too

I'm going with the smaller also, although i think the spring board and the people should be somewhere between the two sizes.

Thanks gary for this new game !
I prefer the smaller and I share gliptitude's opinion (the best size may be between the 2)

Yes, smaller graphics easily here.

I'm thinking midway between the two examples.

Seems to me that the size of the objects could be a good way to create difficultly settings. Large objects for Easy, Small for Hard, and Medium for Normal.

I think I'll go for the smaller objects and maybe a slightly smaller see-saw and man than in the bigger version. I may also add the forth wall of blocking objects.
It's a bit flickering just now so I'll have to see how much I can fit on the screen. I should have the game basics done soon, but I still have a lot of work to do on the bounce and hit physics.

This is starting to take shape. The acrobat now bounces off the blocks. The blocks disappear on contact, and the line redraws once all the blocks are hit.
I still need to do the scores, menu screen, and the bounce physics still needs work.
I may be able to put up a demo video soon. Although I'm still working with the big graphics version so far I am looking at using smaller objects with a bigger man and see-saw

I've done some more work to this if anyone is interested. I will try and get some video of it on a real vectrex over the wekend. You can read about the progress of this on my blog page if you are interested.
