When reading the subject my first thought was: "Elite Frontier! Yes!". But your "Frontier" looks also very promising. Thanks for sharing this great news, Chris. :-)

Bob is adding some kind of 3D capibilities to the Vectrex32 Smartcart, so an Elite style game make be a possibility through that avenue.
Big Blue was very ingenious as an original game. Can't wait to see how Frontier is as another unique game.

I'm wondering what type of game this will turn out to be That makes two of us! I have some arcadey ideas to include but might make it flip screen with different locations and adventure elements... perhaps very light RPG elements too... or maybe it'll just be 2 cowboys shooting at each other from either side of a cactus/wagon!

A little progress on this in 2 player mode... I think I might release this separately from Frontier and call it Outlaw Hill (Outlaw + Boot Hill )... www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkYw0u0A_FYIt will be playable this weekend at Revival Retro Event in the UK so I should get some good feedback!

Thank you for the update and the game video, Chris. Very good to read that you continue development. The gameplay reminds me of the one-on-one battles in the excellent Archon. Some ideas which might make the game and its game play even more interesting, varying, and challenging: - Obstactles (cactuses, ...) might deflect shots (--> random hits/kills which are fun and help less skilled players)
- Extra "obstacles" like a train, horse, or similar might appear and disappear (--> experienced players can make use of these extra obstacles
- Shooting on obstacles (cactuses) might destroy (or change) them.
- The "Hat" animation is quite nice; there could be an extra animation when a player won/lost.
- Cactuses might be just obstacles. In addition they might be poissonous when "touching" them.
- A bit more obstacles (cactuses, stones, ...) that provide cover from the shots
- (Useless) Extra animations like vultures on the cactuses or geckos running around. (--> adds athmosphere)
PS: Time to update your forum status to 'Developing "Frontier" ... ... ...'.

Hey Helmut. Thanks for the post. Some good ideas there (some I have planned already for sure as well as different power ups). At the show someone suggested a power up so you bullets bounce off the sides, I liked that one too. Destructible cacti I have to do as a friend keeps on saying it! I have sprites on paper for a wagon and TNT and a couple other things too. Really enjoying coding this and it passes the test already of being fun and making people competitive. Much simpler than Big Blue too!
